12 oz. bottle with no date
A - Golden straw bronze with a thick white head
S- Super complex! I'm getting hints of sweet malt, pineapple, grapefruit tart, clementine rind, white grape, and a hibiscus floral scent.
T - This beer come rushing at your taste buds! Malt with a slight alcohol burn gets blown away by a sudden rush of floral hops. Getting orange, citrus, piney hoppy joy! This is a literal hop bomb but the malt backbone holds it on it's own to balance it out as it lingers!
M - Resiny mouth feel to this one but yet still crisp and dry on the finish. The hops wreck your palate though and dance on your tongue for a while after every sip.
O - Oh heck of a double IPA! Great malt and hop contrast will definitely please any hop head! Not the most balanced Double IPA but the hop line up on this one is really well done and leads to a fantastic beer! Also dangerously drinkable for 9.5% found myself blowing through this one before i knew it! Great offering from Firestone Walker!

Grabbed a bomber of Double Jack at Wegmans for less than $8.50. Okay, it was $8.49 (pre-tax), but I thought that was reasonable for a DIPA with a lion and a bear fighting on the label. I love the bottled-on info (5/22/2014) -- even the time (9:14)?!?!
Appearance: crystal clear copper. Three finger head that leaves a thick, white lacing.
Smell: big grapefruit notes with a subtle touch of pine.
Taste: in a word---complex. Starts off with citrus, but quickly becomes more pine/bitter. After about half a glass, the citrus pulls ahead again! Finishes with a gentle malt sweetness; nice!
Mouthfeel: really palatable for a DIPA (i.e. not heavy at all).
Drinkability: watch yourself. At 9.5% A.B.V, this DIPA could outmatch your desire for continued consumption.
Based on DoubleJack, I'll definitely try Union Jack now. Thanks Firestone!
