Whoa there, this is a damn fine beer. Pours a tawny golden color with moderate off-white head. Nose is hoppy as hell--big citrus and piney notes overlaying a bit of malt backbone. Flavor follows with a walloping hop presence. Interestingly, there is a nice crisp toast/biscuit malt presence that follows up the hop assault, quelling some of its lasting impact. I happen to like it quite a bit, however. Over-the-top AND balanced? Awesome. Mouthfeel is good for a DIPA, nothing bad, nothing mind-blowing. Great drinkability, however, I was very sad to see it go so quickly.
This oddly reminded me of the 50-50 Hopslam-Double Trouble mix I made recently. Very delicious.
