poured from a bomber into my arrogant bastard pint glass, the body is a clear yellow gold color with moderate carbonation bubbles rising through the brew. The head is a creamy fluff of off white coloration, dissipates to a thin topper with thick lacing on the glass.
The nose is quite malty at first which gives way to a spice aroma of freshly ground black pepper. I get biscuit and honey malts for sure out of it, not sweet though.
The flavors are great, it's a different kind of IPA than the standard ultra bitter of the west coast (which I do love don't take this the wrong way!). I think the malt comes out in the taste as it did the nose, not sweet at all but present in balance with the hop array they set on you. I get a slight bitterness in the taste, much more so than the scent. Still the black pepper spice and fresh herbs plow their way into my palate sending it away saturated and yet pleasantly refreshed.
The mouthfeel is great, thick and creamy, smooth, easy to drink and enjoy at the same time. Solid double ipa.
