Huge thanks to Genghis22 for the bottle.

Crystal clear yellow orange body, perhaps one of the cleanest looking DIPAs I have come across. Huge four finger bright white head perched atop. Retention is very solid, a very decent amount of lacing is left clinging to the glass.

The first thing that strikes me is how clean the aroma is. Not that it is not strong, it is, but it comes off super clean. Piny hops lay beneath an assertive citrus aroma. Subtle tropical fruit plays a very complimentary role. Very soft pale malt lays down a solid base but remains quite subtle.

The flavor delivers much more complexity than I expected. As the beer leaves the glass and hits the tongue a soft honey, pale malt and subtle citrus flavor greet the tongue. The citrus flavor builds in intensity as it hits mid palate. A strong pine and pith bitterness along side a strong citrus characteristic dominate the mid palate. The piny resin flavor diminishes as the beer heads towards the back of the palate. The tropical fruit flavors lay on the back of the palate until the finish.

Medium bodied DIPA with moderate but appropriate carbonation. Very smooth texture, slightly oily. The finish is a bit dry but the residual hop flavor does like to cling to the tongue.

Very impressive beer. The more I drink from Firestone Walker the more I am impressed. Perfect balance and hits every mark. Double Jack belongs on the top tier with all the great DIPAs. Simply a damn good beer.

Bottled on 5/31/13 at 13:00.

A: Pours a transparent copper. Two fingers just off white head. Retention is stellar. Mild carbonation. Lacing is also stellar.

S: Truly powerful grapefruit aroma. Underlying tropical fruit, spruce, pine. Underneath that is the malt. Light notes of caramel and toffee dance with a slight hint of breadiness.

T: Straight shot of grapefruit bitterness. Incredibly dry finish. Ever so slight booziness detected throughout, but it only adds to the citrus and tropical fruit infusion. Shot of peppery-spicy note that lights up for a split second. Finishes completely dry. Lean and crisp. Aftertaste of tart and bitter citrus (grapefruit/lime) rind.

M: Medium bodied. Amazingly dry and crisp, especially considering the abv.

O: Simply an amazing beer. Firestone does it YET AGAIN. Seriously, this brewery may be the best in the nation.
