22 ounce poured into a snifter. Thanks to SanFranJake for this opportunity!

A: Pours a light copper color with a one finger head and some lacing.

S: Very sweet smelling hops abound in this beer. Fruity and floral varieties. Peach, apricot, oranges, and more! No malts to speak of. There is a hint of alcohol. Very inviting smell!!

T: Malts are present in the taste, but balanced nicely by the abundance of bitter hops. Alcohol is apparent.

M: Medium to full bodied with plentiful carbonation.

O: Overall, this is a very solid DIPA. It has a very inviting smell, great flavors, and very good balance. I'm glad I got the chance to try it.

Poured into a Tired Hands stemmed glass.

Brilliant clarity that shows off the very attractive, rich honey-copper color, topped by a peach-hued foam that seems to be supported by an abundance of lively carbonation. As the head dies down, it still shows signs of sticking to the glass. Amazing looking beer!

Aroma is classic. Juicy, bold and full of great hop smells, including notes of peaches, oranges, mango, pineapple, and apricot marmalade, with some hints of alcohol behind it all. Malt aromas are completely masked in this beer.

Palate-coating flavor, chock full of hop bitterness. Sweetness from malts right up front, but fairly well-balanced in the sense that there is a massive presence of hop bitterness, which is countered by that sweetness. There is no hiding of the fact that this beer is 9.5% abv. Bitterness numbs the tongue up front, but wanders to the sides of the tongue and releases a massive amount of hop juice that carries into the aftertaste. Definitely has some sweetness to it though. Finishes hot.

Double Jack is full-bodied, with solid carbonation that is well needed to lift this beer. There is a stickiness to this beer that I don't really like. It suggests a high sugar content.

Overall this is just a gorgeous beer with a great aroma and a solid example of the DIPA style. Highly recommended, and certainly stacks up against many other DIPAs, but I am not sure if this is in my top 10 Double IPA's...

So I stopped by my neighborhood store and the owner insisted I try my 1st! IPA, he highly recommended Firestone Double Jack and I've tried more since but I absolutely love this beer. Smell, taste are amazing and it does the job. Great for a poker night and just chillin around the house.
