Appearance: Brilliantly clear, and medium gold in color. The white head is large and has excellent staying power, but is uneven and frothy.

Smell: A cornucopia of American hops: grapefruit, floral, and grassy notes abound, and are accompanied by a balanced helping of honey. Not as pungent as some IPAs, but a strong and pleasing bouquet.

Taste: A smoky, woodsy flavor creates a sophisticated background for biscuit malt, caramel, and an assortment of American hop flavors. A whisper of dark alcohol is in the finish. Less bright and punchy than some IPAs. Impresses with its uniqueness and balanced complexity.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and slightly chewy, with medium carbonation. The alcohol warming is light, yet noticeable.

Overall: Absolutely delicious. The complex hop combination combines splendidly with the interesting secondary flavors. The alcohol, earthiness, and light sweetness help to create a rich, inviting, one-of-a-kind IPA.

A: Pours nicely into a hazy golden orange color. A light, white head which is very pretty to look at, although it doesn't seem to stick around for very long.

S: Great! Very hoppy with a hint of citrus.

T: Very very good. Very hoppy, with a balanced citrusy (almost grapefruit?) taste. Not too boozy, all in all very smooth and easy to drink.

M: Very easy to taste everything, very smooth and crisp.

Overall: An amazing double IPA. This might be one of my new go-to's, with an awesome blend of bitterness, hops and citrus. I highly recommend it.

L: Bright, clear, gold with a good white head on top. Excellent lacings.

A: Grapefruit, peach, berry, and pine resin hops, clean candylike malt, and some alcohol as well. Very soft and delicate aroma for such a potent beer.

T/M: Smooth bitterness upfront, moves into a big citrus, peach, and piney hops. Hops linger through, and the bitterness increases toward the middle. All the intensity is balanced out by a full body of clean, bready malt with a touch of caramel sweetness. The beer finishes dry and hops linger through.

Overall, Firestone Walker makes some seriously good hoppy beers, and this is no exception. Perfect balance for the style, a full bodied beer, but no sweetness to take away the drinkability.
