Appearance: Pours a deep amber color with a two finger head from a 22 oz. bottle into a belgian style chalice. Very solid looking DIPA and a bit lighter in color than I expected. The head disappears quickly and leaves white lacing on the sides of the glass.

Smell: Not as much aroma as I anticipated but still very pleasant hints of tangerine and grapefruit and sweet malts (perhaps caramel?).

Taste: Somewhat bitter from the amount of hops with piney and grassy undertones while balanced out by the presence of sweet malt. Pretty solid going down.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with slight carbonation that almost tastes more like and IPA than a DIPA. Goes down easy without much burn from the alcohol.

Overall: This is another great brew from FW and one of the better DIPAs that I have had the chance to try. Definitely not my favorite of the style, but something I could drink for a long time.

Double Jack IPA

Pour. Smooth, crisp and clean. Nice Head and great copper color
N. Plenty of fruit scents very subtle
M. Thick, smooth a true DIPA
T. Nice hit of hops, not too much of an alcohol taste with a sweet after taste
Overall another killer DIPA from the west coast. Firestone continues to impress

Had this (along with other dipa's) at a East VS. West Dipa Head to Head Showdown I hosted on 8/27/13

Round 1 East - Captain lawrence CIIPA. West - Double Jack

Double jack I personally love and is one of maybe 3 beers I buy again and again because I'm always trying to drink new stuff. Its the beer I tell Dipa heads to buy and if it wasn't for heady would be my favorite Dipa overall. So delicious it is with perfect hop / alcohol / sweetness for my liking. For the round captain lawrence won the overall appearance and smell but trust me... Double Jack is the most underated beer you'll ever try.
