Poured from a 12oz. bottle, bottled 10/03/12.

Appearance: Very clear light gold body with a solid 3 finger head that latches on then slowly recedes while leaving its mark.

Smell: Fleshy fruit, mix of orange & grapefruit, resiny, sticky a bit, grassy hops.

Taste: Mix of pine, sweet hops, distinct orange and good grapefruit. Malt fights with the hops and gains slight advantage.

Mouthfeel: Full body, long finish, covers all parts of the mouth, astringent bitterness coats the tongue and remains there.

Overall: A real good DIPA and worth getting a hold of.

8oz goblet on-tap.

Great aroma with lots of resin, grapefruit and a thin head topping light lacing across the amber/ruby colored pour. The short pour didn't last long enough to warm much, but wasn't served too cold.

There's a good chance I'd die if I drank too many of these. It drinking boozier than the 9.5% listed. The low 'overall' is because of a peculiar aftertaste and the fact that after it settled in my stomach it turned my stomach a bit. No other good explanation but the final impression on this one was that the total is less than the sum of it's parts.

revising my review now that I've had a very fresh bottle.
12. oz bottle poured into a tumbler glass.

A- a gold/copper/light orange color with loads of hop haze. A billowing off white head, with fantastic lacing down the glass.

S- An assault of Pineapple, mango, grapefuit, pear, and some peach. Sweet biscuity malts are there as well. One of the best smelling doubles, pretty much ever.

T- Big hits of pineapple, pear, mango, peach, with a pronounced grapefruit bitterness. On the taste I also get an onion/garlic flavor that adds to the complexity. A layered biscuity malt is there to balance, and there is a hint of booze on the end. Grapefruit bitterness and the sweeter hop flavor in general lasts well after the sip.

M- Very slick, almost syrupy feel, nicely dry on the finish. Proper carbonation for the style.

O- Easily in the top 3 double ipa's I've had. Fantastic.

Bottle dated 10/18/12; consumed & reviewed on 11/26/12.

Poured into a snifter glass. Pours a transparent orange color, reminiscent of cold medicine as a kid. Comes with a modest 1/2 inch head: eggshell white. Very pungent nose: all tropical fruits here (mango/apricot/peach type). I can detect these even with the glass sitting a few feet from me as I type. Taste offers more of the same: tangy, trop fruits & a tad of lingering bitterness. It's just a tad sweet: very well balanced.

Very nice brew: more of a "sum of the parts" rating for me. No singular aspect blows me away, but they all come together nicely. Good stuff.
