Had on tap at the Tasting Room Saturday August 8, 2009. Served in a small snifter. The fruit element is achieved through the use of olallieberries (pronounced oh-la-leh), which the bartender told me are grown along the Central Coast and are made of a cross of loganberries and youngberries.
A: A slightly hazy ruby-maroon color with a low-rising head that was slightly off white.
S: While I've never tasted an olallieberry, the nose immediately let me know what I would be tasting. The berry scent produced a nice nose, especially when combined with the sour notes, which were definitely prevalent, but not in a way that completely overpowered the fruit.
T: Sweet, acidic, slightly tart. Some slight earthy undertones. There is an undercurrent of berry taste throughout, with a clear overlay of sour and acidic notes. Being the first reviewer, I wish I had more sour experience to be able to better explain all that this lambic had going on.
M: Fairly light-bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Slightly mouth puckering, but nothing in the extreme.
D: Quite drinkable. A thoroughly enjoyable experience all around. Great tasting menu and the bartender was very friendly.

On-tap at Stone Sour Fest
Pours a murky reddish color with an off-white head. Tastes and smells a lot like Fruity Pebbles. A mild vinegar note to both the aroma and flavor, too. A touch of oak, and ollaliberry, maybe some wood, and quite a bit of sweetness overall (I’m guessing from the fruit). Just okay, kind of a let down.

On tap at Tiger!Tiger!.
A: Dark reddish orange with an inch of white froth. The color is really nice.
S: Bright apricot with sour cherry, grape, and plum. Big blackberry and raspberry notes are apparent. This is a veritable dark fruit cornucopia. Really impressive. Oak is light, and lactic notes are pronounced. I get a whisper of acetone and light vinegar.
T: Tart cherry with notes of plum and grape. There's a mouth watering citric acidity with accompanying notes of vinegar and an upper moderate lactic sourness. I can't believe this is 11.5%. I get no alcohol in the flavor. Oak blends with a moderate acetic acidity in the tart finish.
M: Medium in body with upper moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is sticky and dry.
Overall: This is outstanding. I'm impressed.

On tap at Far Bar in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours a murky reddish-orange with a foamy bone colored head that fades to nothing. No lacing on the drink down. Smell is sour, tart, and funky with some fruity, oak, wood, and wine aromas. Taste is much the same with lots of wood an wine flavors. There is a an acidic and vinegar finish on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer that is super tasty and easy to drink.

On-tap at Toronado - had a couple samples of this one on two separate occasions. Served in a tulip glass.
A - Hazed apple cider look, with a small off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves some nice lacework.
S - Apple cider vinegar, light funk, grape skins, not really sure what ollalieberries taste like so I can't really identify how present they really are (and don't tell me it's a cross between youngberry and loganberry - that doesn't help!). It's not particularly intense in any of the expected domains (sour, tart, funky, sweet) - just nicely balanced. Alcohol is shockingly well hidden, though.
T - There's significantly more sourness to the taste and it lingers well into the aftertaste. There's some light fruity sweetness that is sort of nebulous, and a touch of wood. Again - can't believe this was 11.5%! There is nothing in my notes about alcohol presence at all.
M - Dry finish, medium body, nice residual tartness, moderate carbonation. Very satisfying fruit lambic texture.
D - Still can't get over the fact that this was 11.5%. This probably explains how I got trashed so quickly on Saturday. I was sad the keg kicked so early. Excellent first attempt by the FW boys at this type of brew - looking forward to future releases.

Opaque darker golden color. Few bubbles on tap that disappear after a little while.
The nose at first is all toffee with a touch of oak as it warms some lactic sourness comes out and as it warms even more it becomes all about the fruit, just loads of berries.
The flavor takes it in a whole different direction up front huge lactic tartness and a touch of black berries. Then a good dose of funk accompanied by some slightly spicy oak and a subtle touch of toffee finish it off. Berries and lactic tartness lingers.
The mouthfeel is almost creamy despite the tartness. Low carbonation. You would never guess it's 11% either.
An AWESOME beer. I really hope to see more sours from Firestone. Hats off to Matt and the crew.
