Bomber shared by RoyMunson.
Pours a light amber in color with a nice inch of head forming on the pour.
Smell is very light hops and a good amount of gentle spice and malt.
Flavor is more malty, just enough crispness from the hops to keep it refreshing and enjoyable. Very smooth and easy drinking. Very good session beer, but nothing memorable flavor wise. Solid beer and enjoyable.

12 oz. bottle poured into nonic

L: classic clear amber with big tan head of foam; head's about 1.5 inches and thick-looking but dissipates quickly; decent stick off head; not much lacing

S: musty grain; oak ... wet wood ... grain but the musty, dusty woodiness is the keynote; really sweetens at times and is fantastic but usually it's just musty wood/earth

T: toasted malt that never really sweetens; corn; grain ... there's some of the English pale ale fruitiness, too, but it's overcome by a woodiness that's both nice and not so nice because it seems to be blocking the sweet finish. yep, as it warms, more wood -- no doubt about the Firestone Walker barrel system; this thing is woody.

F: standard all around, decent

O: like a train struggling uphill and never quite making it to the top -- it's trying ... trying hard but just not quite...

DBA has some good taste and smell notes in a super-drinkable form with a nice woodiness. the barrel system is cool and different, but it's creating an English pale ale here that isn't accentuating what I love most about the EPA: sweet bread malt. there really seems to be a roadblock where everything is moving in the right direction but then suddenly it all stops ... the taste is fantastic but then just stops, no sweet finish, and it leaves you with a very dirt/earth hops taste that isn't great.

good beer. not a great beer. but Firestone Walker gets all due credit for giving us something just a bit different.

Pours dark copper with an inch of head and slight lacing.Has an odd smell to me but is floral and maybe dandelion.Taste off the bat id hoppy with a light bite. This does leave an aftertaste in the mouth. Not terrible but nothing really special.I expected a bit more but bought this in a mix 12 pack of their others also.Average rating for an average ale.
