Bottled on 6/14/13
Poured into a standard tulip glass.

Appearance: (3.75)
Pours a handsome crystal clear amber with orange highlights, a two fingers tall, eggshell white head forms fairly quickly. The head quickly recedes to about a finger's height, leaving some spotty lacing along the glass' edges.

Aroma: (4)
Floral, leafy green hops with a distinctly herbal, lemony tone jump out towards your nose immediately. Layered delicately underneath the floral hops are some slight impressions of orange marmalade interwoven with sweet, toffee bready malt notes. The fermentation in oak barrels infuses the aroma with soft, supple tones of vanilla and almonds.

Taste: (3.75)
resinous, herbal hops coat your palate first; notes of lemon zest, orange marmalade. Middle of the taste, a creamy, lush malt presence washes over your tongue, with notes of sweet dough and toffee. The sweetness of the malts is somewhat offset by the off dry, lightly bitter finish, but there is still some residual sweetness left on the corners of your palate. The ale has long, lingering notes of fresh oranges, bread-y malt and a decent amount of vanilla and faint almonds from the oak fermentation.

Mouthfeel: (3.75)
Creamy, medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: (3.75)
A fantastic example of a traditional English Pale Ale; the oak fermentation really sets it apart of other examples of the style. That said, I am not the biggest fan of the style to begin with because of it's residual sweetness. I can't think of another English Pale Ale that is better done than this, so if you haven't had it, definitely check it out!

*edit . My original review of this beer was on a stale bottle I received in a male order. The review was about a 2.58 I had another one of these fresh and it differed greatly. This is a new review.

Pours orange amber with perfect clarity lots of bubbles and a creamy head of foam. Falls to a slight ring and leaves a film on top. Nose has plenty of vanilla, hop floral and sweet biscuit malt. Taste is grassy, sweet with a bit of caramel and herbal. The vanilla is rich. A bit of dryness takes the creamy soft finish on this one. Malty, earthy subdued hops. Slight bitterness. It's a little too rich for a pale ale imo. But much better than the one I had that was stale.

The beer comes in a copper amber color.

The aroma has bready malts with some floral and citrus English hops.

The flavor follows with lots of malty sweetness and breadiness. Bigger sweetness toffee than one may expect from a smaller beer like this. There are a lot of English hops characteristics with grassiness and floral notse.

The beer finish quite clean with its carbonation.

A good representation of the English ale.
