Poured into brandy-style glass. Head dissipates quickly. Brilliant clarity with fire orange hue. Fruity nose with some biscuit. Difficulty picking up the vanilla and oak subtleties that describe this beer. Estery up front with clean finish. Decent beer. Could drink a few back to back.

I think this is a solid beer... but perhaps not as interesting as other DBA's. The Firestone DBA is a bit of a plain jane but solid nonetheless. In being critical... it lacks any strong characteristics... but its very drinkable... safe... and a good quality ale.

I tasted it along side of the Firestone Union Jack IPA... and preferred the DBA ( I am not a big fan of IPA's).

A-clear copper with an off white head that leaves a slight lacing
S-grassy hops smell, with English malt aroma
T-light caramel sweetness with the hops balancing it out with a slight hop bitterness that stays with you until the end
M-medium body and medium carbonation
O-has some good balance that does not hit with just one flavor. Could drink this all night.

Bottled October 15, 2013

A: Pours a clear copper-amber color with lots of carbonation bubbles and a healthy finger of frothy off-white head.

S: A little musty, lots of bready malts, with a hint of sweetness. Hops not too pronounced, but a bit of pine shows through.

T: Biscuit and caramel malts dominate. Light floral flavors show up, and pine strengthens on the finish to provide some nice lasting bitterness. Pretty good, if a little less flavorful than I hoped for. A faint metallic flavor shows up but actually doesn't detract from the beer too much.

M: Just a notch below medium-bodied, moderate carbonation, pretty smooth and creamy. Would be great if it was just a bit thicker and stuck around a little more.

O: A good beer, even if it doesn't have any characteristics that will have me seeking it out. I'll probably give it another try in the future, since I've had it before, and see if my opinion changes.
