poured into a pint glass, butterscotch yellow with yeast floaters and a decent head and lace

smells bready and a little spicy

tastes bready, malty, and a little smokey and a mild sweet finish

mouthfeel is somewhat thick with a mild carbonation

drinkability is high, not my favorite wheat beer, but definitely one I will have again.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #40 (May 2010):

Rather taking a well-traveled path, Firestone Walker is paving a new one by overlapping beer styles. Part German Wheat and part Saison, which is great as standard summer Wheats are aplenty these days. Typical hazed orange color with good head retention, check. The aroma beats expectations with well-rounded malt, floral hops and a mild, yeasty nutti- ness. Very smooth, with a fluffy, moderate-size body. Lots of malt to go around; toasty and malty with a quick kiss of sweetness. Hops lay down a balancing bitterness while the yeast and acidulated malt provide a refreshing twang in the drying finish.

Why just a summer seasonal? The brewer surely knows this rivals many of the well- known Wheat Ales. Firestone raises the bar for Wheat Ales everywhere.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy yellow gold with a medium white head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is hefeweizen like - banana and clove with some light citrus, pepper and wheat.

The flavor is a bit subdued and watery with some yeasty banana and wheat with some sweet fruity malt. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and watery.

Overall, I was not too impressed especially at $10 for a 6 pack. It's watery with too much banana for me. It does get a bit better as it warms.

Rather dark appearance, almost orange for a wheat beer, cool. Definitely unfiltered. Aroma was largely summer-esque, i.e. wheat and lemon.

Good dry mouthfeel, wheat % definitely noticeable, almost rye like quality as well. Solid hop bitterness is present. Not up to the level of Sumpin or Gumballhead, but its in the next tier for sure. A little bit of that spice and yeast leans a little to Belgo for me. Not overpowering clove and banana, but more than desireable. Stays light bodied throughout without sacrificing full flavor.

Good, wouldn't turn it down, but there are more interesting summer offerings.

Not a huge fan of wheat beers and to be honest didnt know this was one when I bought it. Really like the flavor of this beer as it's got a distinct flavor that I dont find in any other weizens around. At %6 it's pretty worthy and very drinkable at that. Has become a regular pick up and turned me around on good wheat beer.

A- This beer pours a glowing hazy to the pale orange body with a bubble white head that fades to a ring after a few sips. There is a gentle carbonation that works its way to the surface.

S- The unripe fruity hops blend with some green banana esters and a bread dough note in the finish.

T- The dry green hops have some jammy fruit hints with white bread notes that lead to a dry field corn flavor. The finish is a nice mellow unripe fruit hops flavor that lingers after each sip.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a full crisp fizz in the finish.

O- The great blend of flavors compliment each other with unripe fruit hops and green fruit esters in a very sessionable, drinkable beer.

Aroma - citrus, then Saison "zing"

Appearance - cloudy, orange

Flavor - tastes like a mild Saison initially, with a bit of sour in the aftertaste, along with a bit of German wheat clove.

Mouthfeel - light-medium body, medium carbonation

A good beer - flavorful, especially good in warmer weather. However, I thought it was considerably more flavorful last year, when I had it on draft a few times.

Poured a cloudy golden yellow with a one finger white head. Pretty standard for the style. Scents of clove and banana. Flavor is mild with doughy bread overtones, a bit of spice, slight citrus peel and a bit of hop bitterness on the finish. Light and refreshing. Mouthfeel is light bodied with high carbonation. Another good summer wheat beer, refreshing and sessionable without being overwhelming.

Cloudy yellow with white head and spotty lacing.

Smells gumball sweet and crushed wheat grain with citrus.

Lemony citrus upfront followed by coriander and banana.

Medium body that leans to the sweeter side with decent carbonation that keeps it in check. Very drinkable.

Reminds me of, along the lines, Allagash White and Ommegang Witte. As always fresh is the best and FSW labels such visibly. Definitely worth a try.
