A - Pours a cloudy, hazy gold with a moderate, quick-to-dissipate white head.

S - lemon and orange peel, banana.

T - quick flash of Runts candy, leading to classic bavarian hefe-bananas. lingering but light finish; slighty bready and herbal.

M - not overpowering at all. great carbonation and slipperiness. very well balanced to the taste.

D - very high. I could see myself having a few of these this summer, especially at 6%.

Overall, I really dig this beer. Very well balanced and drinkable. I swear, one day I will find something on here to write a scathing review about.

A: beautiful, cloudy gold color. Small white head.

S: a rich citrusy aroma with a hint of wheat and honey.

T: A balanced and light drinking wheat, with enough citrus contrast to keep your pallet interested.

M: a little bit of sunshine in your mouth.

O: the overall flavor is clean and crisp. A great beer for a hot summer afternoon. A very good wheat with some German roots.

Poured in to a Sam Adams Perfect Pint. Hazy, golden yellow body. 1.5 finger, white head.

Aroma was very appealing. Nice notes of banana and a malty sweetness. Some light bubble gum. Mild clove. Some light citrus as well.

Taste had some big bubble gum and banana flavors. Very light, but at the same time, full of flavor. Mild sweetness. Light grainy flavor. Subtle notes of clove. Crisp with a very mild bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel was medium/light body with medium/high carb. Crisp finish.

Overall this was a delicious version of american wheat ale. Probably one of my more favorite ones. Flavors are well rounded and you could easily drink alot of these.

Presentation: 12 oz short bottle, ABV is marked but I don't see a date.

Appearance: Orange yellow with a slight haze, average head that fades to a think layer that sticks around.

Smell: Yeast funk, a bit of banana, and just a hint of floral hops. Wheat aroma comes through more as it warms.

Taste: Nice combination of wheat, spicy yeast flavors, and just a little bit of citrus. There is some hop bitterness in there balancing things out.

Overall impression: Great wheat beer, could definitely enjoy several of these. I can't think of another wheat off hand that I'd rather have.

Appearance - Pours a cloudy golden orange with a white 2 finger head, good retention, leaving behind a thick, semi-sticky lacing.

Smell - Lots of heavy yeast. Notes of banana and wheat.

Taste - A light bubblegum yeast and banana upfront, a touch of spice. Aftertaste rings with a hint of citrus, and a mellow pineapple zing. Complex and delicious!

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body. Silky smooth and a touch creamy. Carbonation is lively and leaves a nice tingle.

Overall - This beer is simply fantastic. I'm really impressed. Drinks closer to a hefeweizen, but I can definitely taste the saison influence, particularly in the finish. Only available in the summer months? Boo! We want year-round release!

Tried pouring it into both a pint and hefewiesen glass. The bottle poured into the hefe glass was noticeably better

A - Pours a dark, golden yellow with a solid head which sticks around for almost the entire drink

S - Smells like more of a hefewiesen than a saison. Nutty, very wheaty/grainy, but with a refreshing fruitiness at the forefront

T - Slightly fruity upon hitting the lips. Finishes with an excellent hef taste. Grainy, nutty, delicious!

M - Great considering the style. Washes over the tongue with force and lingers nicely

D - Out of this world. Instantly a summer BBQ must have IMO

12oz brown stubby bottle, capped. Label states that this is a Limited Release. Pours our a pale-golden yellow with tons of tiny bubbles. Very small head that doesn't last at all.

Smell is wheat, lemon notes and also some clove and banana. Almost leaning towards the smell of a Belgian beer. Taste is sweeter than I expected but in a good way. Malty banana start this beer out and it ends with a nice spicy bitterness. Nice little yeast bite that adds some complexity.

I am drinking this in the mid to upper 40's and it really brings out some great flavors. Still clean and easy drinking but tons of layers of flavors. Very easy drinking beer that I would love to have one tap.

This beer was a pleasant surprise. Cloudy, orange color. Not much head upon pouring, but it lasts. The label didn't give any indication, but I was expecting an APWA based on its "craftily unfiltered" tag.

I'm not nearly as learned as most, I'd bet, but this reminded me more of a saison ala Great Divide's Colette. Somewhere between juicy and semi-dry, this is beer has a smooth, semi-full mouthfeel, with spicy and fruity notes. I'm getting a flashback from my cider days in Edinburgh. There's also yeast, of course. Carbonation is assertive. Definitely worth a try!

(Served in a bowtie glass)
Bottled 4/18/13
A- This beer pours a glowing hazy to the pale orange body with a bubble white head that fades to a ring after a few sips. There is a gentle carbonation that works its way to the surface.

S- The unripe fruity hops blend with some green banana esters and a bread dough note in the finish.

T- The dry green hops have some jammy fruit hints with white bread notes that lead to a dry field corn flavor. The finish is a nice mellow unripe fruit hops flavor that lingers after each sip.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a full crisp fizz in the finish.

O- The great blend of flavors compliment each other with unripe fruit hops and green fruit esters in a very sessionable, drinkable beer.

Thanks to snosage22 for sending me this beer.

Pours a very cloudy and hazy pale orange color with a thick bubbly two finger head.

Smell is very citrusy and earthy. Lots of great pear and orange notes.

Taste is pretty dang good. Crisp fruit up front, pear, banana, lemon and orange. Light hops as well, maybe saaz. Very nice and refreshing flavor, this may be my favorite style for the summer and this beer is a great example.

Mouthfeel is full with medium carbonation.

Very drinkable beer, I am quite impressed with it.

A – Inviting hazy golden-yellow color with a 3 finger off-white head which leaves good lacing.

S - Delightful aroma of butterscotch, clove, and fruit

T – Esters of banana, nectarine, lemongrass, and clove. Malt comes in just enough to bring balance without ever becoming prevalent. Lingering aftertaste is subtle hops. So well balanced that one flavor never really dominates.

M – Well carbonated (one could say perfectly so), medium bodied, finishes clean and crisp.

O – Wow, is this good. A complex, flavorful, brew that Blue Moon only wishes it could be. This is my new favorite for the style. Kudos to Firestone Walker.

This poured a cloudy, hazy golden straw color with light foam that rapidly died down. The nose is full of a light banana and clove aroma. Not a big domineering aroma but it makes its presence known and is rounded by a light, slight funk—not in a bad way, more beery/estery. The flavor has a big banana bubblegummy estery goodness to it, much more pronounced than the aroma would lead one to believe. Lightly tart, too. Nice carbonation keeps this light and easy drinking. Effervescence and enjoyable, went great with pizza and salad.

No bottled on stamp but I saw the place on the label where it should have gone. Go figure.

A-Pours a two finger white head into the pint glass that dissapears within 20 secounds. High carbonation. No lacing. The color of the beer is dark yellow or very light orange. Pale and hazy because of the yeast.

S- Over ripe bananas, clove, spice, cotton candy, and a touch of hops.

T- Over ripe bananas spice, and a touch of hops.

M- Light to medium bodied.

O- Great summer beer! Refreshing!

Pours hazy orange with slight head that fades quickly. The banana and cloves remind me of a German hef rather than an american...Also oranges as well ...a bit of spice from the yeast reminds me a little of a saison...A great summer beer. I love you Firestone Walker

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #40 (May 2010):

Rather taking a well-traveled path, Firestone Walker is paving a new one by overlapping beer styles. Part German Wheat and part Saison, which is great as standard summer Wheats are aplenty these days. Typical hazed orange color with good head retention, check. The aroma beats expectations with well-rounded malt, floral hops and a mild, yeasty nutti- ness. Very smooth, with a fluffy, moderate-size body. Lots of malt to go around; toasty and malty with a quick kiss of sweetness. Hops lay down a balancing bitterness while the yeast and acidulated malt provide a refreshing twang in the drying finish.

Why just a summer seasonal? The brewer surely knows this rivals many of the well- known Wheat Ales. Firestone raises the bar for Wheat Ales everywhere.

g: Pint

a: Typical hazy golden orange color. Nice 1-2 finger white head, very uniformed. Minimal lacing.

s: Initial, wheat grain aroma. Getting past that, i get coriander bubblegum and lemon. Super soft cracker. That's about it.

t: Noticeably more flavorful that some other american wheats i've had, which is refreshing. Very juicy, mango-orange flavor, nice light citrus hop throughout. It still has the coriander and bubblegum as well. Finishes clean.

m: Medium, juicy mouthfeel with relatively low carbonation.

d: One of the better wheats i've had so far, very drinkable.

Appearance: Pale gold, with moderate foam and lacing.

Smell: Wheat and banana.

Taste: Wheat, lemongrass, banana. Slightly sweet, slightly spicy.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, with a slight bitter aftertaste. Crisp and refreshing.

The Verdict: Excellent. Well balanced and tasty, this is the best summer seasonal I’ve had this year. I really need to try and get up to the brewery soon and try a fresh draft of this.

Poured from a 12oz into a pint glass, small amount of head that is pretty clean looking, dissipates rather quickly and leaves no lacing on the glass.

It's got a great look to it, I love that unfiltered cloudy appearance that it has. It looks like the meat of a mango after you cut into it which is cool.

Smells like this is going to be a refreshing one, it's very mellow on the nose, lots of fruity scent here. Mostly banana and maybe just because I think it looks like a mango this is a preconceived one, but I smell mango too, not only that but a perfectly ripe one too.

The taste is, well let me quote myself talking to myself..."good, that's really good," I was surprised to be honest, and I did have fairly high expectations for this beer to begin with as well! Lots of maltiness in this one, it's smooth and refreshing, and although there is a lot of malt it's not too sweet at all. A great blend between a hefeweizen with the citrusy flavoring and what I guess you call a "saison." The fruity blend in the flavor is mostly apricot, and definitely the banana I picked up in the nose. The finish leaves a bit of a sour taste in the back of the throat as well, but just like the sweet flavor it is very smoothed out and barely detectable.

Mouthfeel is definitely not bad, but it's not the defining characteristic of this beer like the flavor is. It is definitely a thicker malty cream feel throughout the taste and I enjoy it thoroughly.

Quite drinkable, the smoothness, sweet and sour dichotemy, and great fruity flavors in here make this an extremely enjoyable beer. It's got the base of a wheat beer but it's so much more at the same time. Whereas many wheat brews seem to require a slice of lemon or orange to make them drinkable this one stands all on its own and I think that's the way a beer should be broken into.

A - Cloudy and golden, this lacked much head at the pour, and minimal lacing as well.

S - Fairly mild scents of citrus, banana, some spice and bread.

T - Quite nicely balanced. Some hefeweizen there in the wheat and banana, with just a touch of saison spiciness and fruit. This is a nice mix.

M - Just moderate carbonation and light bodied, it was nevertheless fuller than a typical hefe.

D - Very refreshing on a warm day, and I liked the mix of styles. Will pick up more of this while it is in season.

Poured a cloudy golden yellow with a one finger white head. Pretty standard for the style. Scents of clove and banana. Flavor is mild with doughy bread overtones, a bit of spice, slight citrus peel and a bit of hop bitterness on the finish. Light and refreshing. Mouthfeel is light bodied with high carbonation. Another good summer wheat beer, refreshing and sessionable without being overwhelming.

Appearance: Hazy light gold/dark straw. Head is bright-white and drops to a wispy nothingness in short order. Lively carbonation.

Smell: Wheaty. Grass, touches of banana and clove. Sweet. Corn and apples. Was this hit with a Belgian yeast strain. Reminds me of a traditional hefeweizen. Loaded with fruity sweetness. Very bright. Some bubblegum and pale malts. Mildly earthy.

Taste: Lemon and earthy fruit. Dirt, grass, and the distinct bite of wheat. Yeast drops some big ripe banana with a faint clove spiciness. Sweet and pale. Lingering sweetness. Bubblegum on the back. Yeasty without being overbearing. Very clean. Some mild funk layered in the back, but it's mostly hay. Slightly toasted.

Mouthfeel: Relatively light with a decent carbonation. Incredibly clean and bright. Easy drinking and highly quaffable.

Overall: Hello summertime in a bottle. If this doesn't make your list of hot summer beer, nothing will.

Had a 12 oz bottle poured into a Duvel Tulip. Drinking it now during the NHL Playoffs!

Golden, cloudy, with very little head retention.

A lot of citrusy notes, with a bit of banana

I love the blending of the hefeweizen and saison styles. A little citrus, a little sour, lots of wheat. Delicious!

Feels pretty light considering all the big beers and imperial stouts I've had lately. A bit heavier than a standard hefeweizen, but goes down very easily

Witbiers are my go to for warmer weather, but considering I can't ever get Allagash White this is going to be my new choice! If it stays stocked that is. This was very smooth and drinkable, and at 6% its not really a slouch in the ABV department.

A: Hazy light orange body, with half a finger head, lots of lacing

S: Spice, clove, lemon,

T: Follows the nose. This could pass for a light Hefeweizen, in my books. Banana, clove, lemon, but perhaps a bit spicy for the style.

M: Smooth, perfect amount of carbonation. Nice.

O: Quite nice brew!

A cloudy haze of pale golden treasure, with a huge white head that has some lacing.

Smells of sweet wheat malts, with the barest hint of tangy lemon and yeast.

Taste is similar, with a hint of the sweet malts, clean and mild. Enough hops to balance and let you know they are there, and a light yeasty, kind of sweet aftertaste.

Texture is extremely smooth and drinkable, delicate, with a almost crisp, not quite dry finish.

A high quality brew. Flavors are balanced and nice. A session ale for sure, do not look for huge flavors, but do look to have this on a hot sunny day.

S: Toasted wheat, banana, spice, bread.

T: Fruity, bready, sweet, toasted wheat and malt. Tasty stuff.

M: Smooth, sweet, crisp. Good body and good flavor.

O: A very good wheat beer that I would gladly drink again. And hopefully will be able to again on draft.
