No enjoy by date of the label.
Poured slowly into a standard pint glass.
A: Poured to about three fingers of very dense, mahagony colored head. Over time the head disapated to about one finger and stayed around until the glass was almost empty. The brew is a rich dark brown and just barely translucent with a cherry red hue when it is held to the light.
S: The aroma consistes of dark roasted malt and some sweetness with a little bit of dark dried fruit.
T: The tast is of rich, dark roasted coffee-like malt with some natural sweetness along with just a touch of dark dried fruitiness consisting of prunes and raisins. The flavors roundout with just a little bit of earthy hops bitterness.
M: The body is medium-heavy and very satisfying. It is very smooth and has just enough carbonation to seem lively. It finishes clean and does not leave an aftertast.
O: This is a classic example of a Porter. It is one that can be used as a baseline for comparing Porters. It hits the right balance of roastiness and sweetness, and a few other flavors join in to add some complexity and keep things interesting. Overall, this is an outstanding classic Porter.
