Sand-colored head clings to the glass, pulling back from a full finger at the pour. Underneath is an abyss of dark brown, with only thin orange ring peeking through the bottom of the glass.
Burnt toast, vanilla, tobacco smoke, but rather subdued in the nose.
Tobacco smoke is oddly apparent to the tongue - I like it, but it's definitely unique. Coffee and cedar underneath that, ringing of a West Texas forest fire.
Clean and dry finish, leaving only a hint of charred toast behind. More reserved in the mouth than a stout, but with similar characteristics.
Given that it's under 6%, I could probably enjoy a lot of the FW Porter - easy to drink, but best on a cool spring evening, bidding winter farewell.
