This brew pours black with a little plumb color when held up to the light. There is a thick, persistent, mocha colored head and thick lacing which stays on the glass until the end.
The smell is burnt malts, burnt coffee and chocolate. There is a slightly boozy smell as well as a toasted oat smell.
Taste follows the nose; it is heavy on burnt coffee and burnt malts. There is chocolate as well as a little booze. There is also a light smokey flavor.
The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth, this beer goes down easily with no aftertaste.
Overall this is a very good, very smooth porter. Those who are put off by heavy burnt taste and bitterness of other porters might like this one; it goes down smoothly.
