Poured into an imperial nonic a deep cola color with one finger beige colored head atop.Great aromas of roast, earth, and pine resin,a littlbitter chocolate is there as well as the beer warmed a little.Big roast up front on the palate with earthiness and bitter chocolate, the piney hops hit hard in the finish. This is a big brash ABA,maybe the best I have had.Awesome

A good drinking draft and spot on black IPA solid offering. Very good, another solid Firestone Walker offering. Black bodied, assertive carbonation. Average mouthfeel. Solid hops, solid roast, anise. Rye spice adds some edge. Roast aroma. Significant grapefruit.

A - Pours black...wait, if you tilt the glass you can see that it is actually slightly translucent and a deep walnut color. Tan head, that fades quickly leaving just a covering on top with a few unfortunate large bubbles.

S - Get ready to enjoy as soon as you open a bottle, the citrus hop aromas that immediately escape are divine. Once poured, the hops are still present, but joined by a lot of chocolate and a bit of roasted coffee.

T - This is first and foremost an IPA, even better a rye IPA. The hop delivery is smooth with lots of citrus and a touch of floral. There is a sweetness and a bit of spice from the rye that plays perfectly with the floral notes of the hopes, and then the chocolate comes on as you finish, with just a hint of roasted coffee aftertaste.

M - Mediums bodied, velvety, and warming. Just enough alcohol and carbonation to linger.

O - This is one of those beers that should be a standard. If you want to make a black IPA, Cascadian ale, American Black ale...whatever you want to call it, this is it. There are lots of black IPAs out there since it became "the thing" to do, but this one does it right.

22 oz into tulip pint
A- Coca-cola color on the pour with a thick creamy light tan head that doesn't want to go anywhere-I'm excited
S- Chocolate Chip Power Bar, toasted malt with a sweet hoppy rye backbone
T- Oohh. Aahh. Thats good. It's unexpectedly refreshing. Lighter than I thought it would be. Not lighter as in lacking flavor, just in body. Very unique. Brownie points for being something different. It just tastes like someone brewed exactly what they wanted to. Very mellowed hops
M- IPA mouthfeel; refreshing, big bubble, light (enough) bodied, but the roastey toasty-ness coats the tongue
This is a very good beer I would drink any time. I appreciate what it is. Is there bigger better beers... of coarse. But this beer is delicious and enjoyable, and for that I give it credit.

(Firestone Walker, I had written you off. I am sorry, I didn't mean it, I know good things happen there. The Costco pack does not do you justice (obviously...))

Served too cold at local establishment that seems to have no trouble getting great brews.
First keg in Washington State? Incredible considering the competition. Don't know how they do it.
Nice dark pour into a stemmed glass. Virtually no head. Took a sip & decided I needed to wait for it to warm. Served way too cold. Cradling it in my hands to help it along.
Flavors definitely evolve with patience. Malt smoothness & rye up front with a nice hoppy persistence.
Well worth the effort to seek out. A fun beer. Can't wait to find it in bottles.
