Poured from a bomber to snifter, no freshness date
Pours a pitch black with a finger of light mocha foam. Good lacing and retention. Aroma is of very strong hops, pine, coffee, chocolate, tropical fruit, with malt and some alcohol. Taste follows the smell quite well, fruity hop bomb laced with coffee and some other earthy floral tastes. Malt is most interesting coming from the rye, leaving a bitter after taste much different from that of the initial taste of the beer, which is one of the few flaws I find with it. Mouth is creamy, sticky and dry. Over all a good black ipa, not my favorite but deserves an honorable mention. The rye isn't something I much care for
