Picked up a bottle of this at Julio's. Poured into a Duvel tulip.
A - Pours a rich, deep brown with a wonderful two finger khaki head that slumps down to leave lots of sticky, thick side lacing as it remains a finger thick.
S - Aromas of roasted malts and light pine pop on this one. I'd like it a bit roastier.
T - Taste is nice, a fair amount roastier than the nose. That said, I'd like more roasted malts on this. There are faint chocolate notes, as well as a decent pine flavour throughout and a finish that isnt too bitter. The rye comes into play, fleating in and out with nice subtle spice.
M - Mouthfeel is quite nice. Slightly creamy, no ABV at all. Smooth and delicious.
O - Overall this was a rather enjoyable Black ale. great appearance and mouthfeel really is what makes this go from a "not bad" to a "would buy again".
