Appearance: Very dark copper brown. Ok lacing and very little foam.
Smell: Fruity rye, fairly rye-whiskey-like. Also very peppery.
Taste/Mouthfeel: The most licorice I've ever had in a beer, followed by plums. I like this a lot better in hindsight, making me want it again. Feels a bit thin and doesn't hold up to the flavor and smell.
Overall Drinkabiity: Another great example of a great style.
Serving type: on-tap

Poured dark brown-copper-black with thick tan head that retains. and leaves nice lacing.
Nice citrus hops with pine. Rye malt, roast.
Taste: Nice rye crispness with a roasty back bone. Lots of bitter, resiny hops that stay in throat.
Mouth: Dry and astringent. A stout-like slickness.
Overall: Nice beer with good balance and complexity. Its a bit astringent and has more roast than I like for style.
Serving type: bottle
