I had this in a Pint Glass. I received this in my beer of the month club January edition.

The beer poured a straw yellow with no head. No lacing looked like a glass of Urine.

It had a slight soapy smell with a piney sent in the background.

This was like drinking dishwater. It did have a Piney taste up front with citrus around the edges, but the soapy dishwater taste was the most noticeable.

Very flat with a very watered down feel.

I could hardly finish what I started, but in order to make an accurate assessment I felt I owed it to the brewer to finish.

I am wondering if I received a skunky bottle. I have two more left I will update this review.

A- Pours a clear light golden color with 3/4" head which slowly fades with a little lacing, looks nice.

S- Wow, lots of floral hoppiness. Some rose, lilac, spring time smells with just a bit of piney and citrusy character of hops. Doesn't smell too much like beer, but smells good.

T- Up front just like the aroma, flowery bright spring time flavors with light fruits, rose, lilac and a bit of citrus. This is quickly replaced by a weak malt sweetness. Nothing too bad, a little like a very floral IPA minus any bitterness on the back end, definitely unique.

M- More or less feels like an average american pale ale (although it is very clear that this is in no way attempting to be a pale ale). A little oiliness makes it feel not so great but good amount of carbonation and body.

D- Goes down fine but gets a little tiring, there's a lot going on in the front end and very little going on by the end. Definitely worth trying but not something I'd drink a whole lot of, and I wish it had a little more alcohol and maltiness.

Review from notes.

A: Pours a light yellow color with a foamy white head. Decent retention with little bits of lacing.

S: The aroma did not have much in way of hops, despite the name. It actually reminded me of buttered popcorn.

T: A little bit of citrus, mostly some lemon, and a bit grassy. Some pale malts, but really light on flavor. Not bitter whatsoever.

M: Light bodied with high carbonation, somewhat crisp.

O: Too thin and just not much too it. The aroma started things off on the wrong foot, and it just didn't get any better.

Bottle from Sprecher brewery. Mid yellow coloured body with tons of lasting white foam. A little hop smell, a mild hop taste. Drinkable, but unexceptional pale. More of a weak IPA. C-hop. Mostly malt, with what seems to be hop oil. Average mouthfeel.

The Hop On Top is a bit dissappointing. While it is much better than the standards...the name brings high expectations. There is no question that this beer would be great to session on hot days....but if I compare it to others in its style...it just will not eank that high. The beer pours a light golden color with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent carries bitter piney hop scent. The taste is mild bitterness and yet somewhat refreshing. The mouthfeel is light in body with decent carbonation. Overall it is ok....for those going to a company picnic in the dead of summer....this beer is a life saver.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada Imperial Pint. 4.2% ABV, 10011 printed on the neck. Purchased at the Sprecher gift shop.

A - Pours a lightly hazy golden yellow straw with a puffy stark white head. Moderate retention despite the billowing carbonation. Little bits of lace cling to the sides of the glass.

S - The aroma is rich with floral scents and hops. It smells like a flower garden. The hops have light citrus hints with an overarching resin/plastic thing going on. Very light pale malts to the finish.

T - Light citrus is lemon-lime-like with a big flower flavor. The hops aren't really tasted as much as flower pedals are. A pale malt is in the background. Very light citrusy finish. Zero IBUs in this practically.

M - Light-bodied and fully carbonated with a crisp and somewhat clean finish. No bitterness but light floral citrus and dryness to the finish.

D - This would be much better around 40 degrees F if not 35, especially on a hot summer day. It's just not doing it for me right now. It's rather bland with little balance. Too floral and thin.

12oz longneck twist off
A) Pours with a big white head. Clear body. Bronze in color. Thin sticky lacing on the drink down.
S) Bright hop aroma - fresh and grassy like it was just picked from the vine.
T) Nutty malt tones with some sweet grain flavors. Subtle hops in the finish, hence the "hop on top" name. This is like blonde ale with a great hop aroma and some residual hop flavors in the aftertaste.
M) Light body. Fizzy. Slightly dry in the finish. A little grassy.
D) A decent beer. I would definitely drink another. There are quite a few negative reviews about this beer, but I think people are expecting a hop bomb just because the word "hop" shows up in the name. There's more to a beer than just it's name...

Having struck out with the Fire Light I'm trying the Hop on Top. Pours a bright straw with a fizzy head. Aroma is pretty awesome, with a pretty hefty resinous pine note. Grain and grass sweetness lies underneath the surface. Taste is cereal malt up front, before scratchy floral hops explode in the mouth mid taste. Those fade quickly and finish with more malt sweetness, leaving you wanting another sip. No real bitterness with this one, though the hops coat the tongue, painting it with a light brush. Kind of a neat trick. It's an IPA that finishes like a pilsner or light pale ale. Guess I should expect nothing less from a brewery named Chameleon. It's certainly unique, though it's not necessarily for everyone.

Pour is alarmingly yellow for an APA. Looks much more like a AAL or ML. Thin, loose head that leaves zero lacing.

Aroma is metallic with notes of gear oil.

Front-end bitterness gives way to dry sourness and powdery hops. Thin body and parching dryness. The flavor seems artificial.

I can drink just about any beer, but this one is tough going.

Pours a pretty clean looking gold/orange. Very slight head, slight lacing. Looks little thin. Nothing totally off-putting.

Smell is wierd...reminds me of some really old hops I came across while homebrewing. Lemon? Asprin? Something along those lines. Not good.

Just awful, like the smell but with a terrible, vomit-like aftertaste. Why would they choose to sell this beer?

Mouthfeel is okay. Doesn't come across as thin as it looks in the pour. Not exactly crisp but cut the carbonation is there and it drinks somewhat smooth.

This is an awful awful beer. I could only make it through a third of of it, and I generally try to make it a point to finish every beer I review. Don't let your curiousity get the best of you, don't buy this beer.

Poured into a regular pint glass with approx. 1 finger of egg shell colored head. Nice clear brew, slightly lighter than apple juice. The first thing I noticed with the smell was the hoppiness and floral fragrance. I gave it a below average smell rating because of a soap like smell...not used to that. I felt it had a great taste and the off soap smell did not carry over. Surprisingly not as hoppy as it smells. Overall, I feel this is a very drinkable beer. I know this sounds crazy but it could be enjoyed on a hot summer day right from the bottle. This beer is a great example of an APA that I would offer someone new to the craft beer arena because of its smoothness, yet unique taste

Serving Type: Bottle

Appearance: Light Golden Bronze, Off-White Head that dissipates quickly.

Smell: Hop aroma that soon turns into smells of Flower, Plastic and Soap.

Taste: Slight Hop and Floral followed by the taste of dirty dishwater. No Malt flavor.

Mouthfeel: Over carbonated. Very thin.

Overall: I want my $9 back. Not sure how this made it out of R&D.

I was really skeptical from the appearance; it was a smokey golden color.

But the smell.. the smell. Amazing. Like flowers and Christmas.

Taste was exceptional. To Die For. Tasted like memories.

Surprisingly carbonated. A really crisp and refreshing feel.

When it comes down to it, the sight doesn't give the taste and smell justice. Easily in my top 3.

SERVE THIS BEER IN A GLASS.

-- drinking this beer from the bottle tastes a little metallic.

Bottle courtesy of BeerFMAndy. Served in a Cantillon tulip.

Pours a light shade of gold. Completely transparent, though no real visible carbonation. Single-finger head fades quickly into a thin collar with only a few spots of lacing on the sides. Opening the bottle, it smells like a fresh package of hops, but in a really odd way. It smells like they've been left out for a little bit and then mixed into a sugary cereal. Very odd. The taste is along the same lines. The hop-pellet character is there, but it's mixed with a very odd cereal-like sweetness. Mouthfeel is thin and a bit watery. Okay, but strange.
