Note: This is one of two Chameleon beers my friend received as part of a beer of the month club, and both were severely contaminated.

A - 80% opaque gold. Low head but holds a nice lace.

S - Meaty off-aroma. Some ginger, touch of bubblegum. Lemon way in the back.

T - Definitely contaminated. Carries the hallmarks of lactobacillus. Meaty, rancid, buttery. Couldn't take a 3rd sip to work through the rest.

Bottle courtesy of BeerFMAndy. Served in a Cantillon tulip.

Pours yields a clear light gold beer with a very thin white head and no retention. Settles quite quickly into a swirly cap and a really thin collar. No lacing. Nose brings some mild Belgian yeast character with a bit of orange zest and light coriander. Taste has a bit of orange zest but then takes the coriander way too far into the spicy realm. Not subtle at all. The excessive use of coriander really destroys the mouthfeel, which is otherwise light and well-carbonated. Drinkability is pretty low. This is way too much of a spice bomb.

The Witty: "White Wheat Ale Brewed with Spices". Received through the beer of the month club.

Drank straight out of the bottle.

Not a good example of the style. Finishes watery and a
bit bitter. Not as bad as some reports on here, but I wouldn't buy again.

Thanks to BeerFMAndy for the bottle.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy dark orange with absolutely no head. Not even a ring of lace to speak of. The nose is really sharp with big spicy yeast, bubblegum, lemon, and lots of coriander. The mouth is fair. Carbonation level is moderately high, but drinks smooth enough. The spices come out in full force flavor-wise. Coriander, lemongrass, white pepper. Mild fruity finish. This isn't the best representation of the style. Refreshing at times, but almost too much zing in it to have many more. I'd pass for some better Wits in the future.

Poured out of a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A) Cloudy looking light orange color. A nice finger of white fluffy head. The head settles to a dusting. There was some lacing. Plenty of carbonation noted. Bubbles were moving rapidly to the top of the pint.

S) Plenty of wheat and some citrus. There was kind of a canned fruit aroma, mostly the syrup. There was light spice aroma as well.

T) Wheat, spices, mild citrus, some berries. Kind of medicinal. The finish is heavy orange rind, somewhat acidic.

M) Medium body with some sizzle. It's kind of sticky, and the orange rind lingers.

O) Picked up some Chameleon beers over at Sprecher Brewery the other weekend, and haven't been real impressed. They're not terrible by any means, but they're just not doing much for me. Perhaps this one is more of a summertime brew? I'll probably never know.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

That chameleon doesn't look like Oscar Wilde... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by a half-finger of short-lived off-white foam. The nose comprises light orange peel, light funky wheat, and what seems like an old yuzu rind. (Gotta love learning new fruits, amiright?) The taste brings in more of the same, funkiness and odd rindiness not only intact but emphasized. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a weak wit, not altogether bad, just not very good.

Pours out a lightly hazed golden straw color with a brief moment of two fingered head that only leaves behind minimal lacing. Medium body and carbonation levels.. Smells and tastes of musty orange rind on a wheat base with a hint of cinnamon spice and a small amount of vegetal off-flavor.

Poured a hazy orange gold with a small white head very little retention and light minimal lacing.

Aroma of citrus with coriander spice and hints of ginger.

Taste followed the aroma with lemon and orange zest, coriander and slight hint of wheat.

Mouthfeel was light body with light carbonation, very crisp finish.

Nice freshing drinkable beer, however, I do not rate it as one of my top favorite Wit's.

A- Cloudy golden in color a quickly disipating head with light laceing.

S- The aroma carries hints of oranges, and coriander.

T- Strong orange peel and lemony citrus but not over powering.

M- A nice light bodied beer with a good carbonation level.

D- The flavor, body, and plesent carbonation level make this an easy drinking beer

This is only the second beer I have tried from chameleon brewing the first was hop on top and im glad to say that this beer has gon a long way to redem this brewery in my eyes

Appearance- Pours a cloudy, pale gold with a small white head that recedes and leaves moderate lacing.

Smell- Lots of orange peel with a good spice scent and a floral background.

Taste- Again I get some bitter orange peel and spices. On swallowing I get a faint taste of black licorice. Balanced between a slight sweetness and slight bitterness. Lots of spice.

Mouthfeel- Fairly thin with less carbonation than a typical wit.

Overall- I probably wouldn't buy it again. It is not a bad beer, but the spice flavor was a bit overpowering.

Bottle from the brewery (Sprecher). Pours hazy and golden. Pleasant wheat aromas, with spice. Medium mouthfeel, tingling carbonation. Not a bad one, some cloves, perhaps some cinammon though the wheat base is so-so. I have to be in a special mood to enjoy most wheat beers, but this one was ok. Not super drinkable but worth a half pint.
