Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at Cycle tasting room. Served in a snifter glass.
A: Very dark brown, essentially opaque, with a finger's worth of tan head and no visible carbonation.
S: Big rum aroma up front, then some dry woody barrel character, and sweetness and heat from the booze. Undertones of chocolate malts, vanilla (wood tannins) and some spices (I suspect from the rum).
T: Sweet chocolate, rum (though less than the nose suggested), dark and sweet roasted malts, wood tannins, vanilla and just a bit of lactose creaminess. Sweet sticky malts and residual rum in the hang.
M: Heavy-bodied and a sticky mouthfeel. Restrained alcohol presence for the style, and low carbonation sensation.
O: Another excellent beer from Doug, although I didn't find this to be as good as his barrel treatments of the D.O.S. Still, more than worthwhile to seek out.
Serving type: on-tap
