Thanks Daniel!!

Pours out a pitch black motor oil color that looks thick!

Aroma is insane! Big roasted malt notes, but vanilla, oak, bourbon, caramel, molasses and even some roasted coffee notes!

Taste follows the nose with massive roast, creamy vanilla, oaky notes, roasted coffee/espresso beans almost. There is bourbon and molasses and every time you take a sip there is something new!

Full bodied, creamy and pretty smooth. It's a big beer that feels even bigger, but not for the worse.

Totally awesome beer that definitely lived up to the hype!

Reminded me a good bit of Abyss (at least initially). Strong molasses, licorice and dark fruit notes beat up the nose and palate, with some smokiness present. But the ending, although boozy, is still less harsh then what I experience with Abyss. Maybe a bit thinner than one would expect, but in line with most Cycle BA stouts and easy to drink for a high abv beer.

Got this one from 7Clutch a while back. Cheers!

From a bomber into a snifter

APPEARANCE: Pours a muddy, opaque black and yields a 3 finger, medium – thicker looking, slightly crackly yet creamy mocha or dark tan head with very good retention. Black body with no carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a full, decent cap and leaves lots of nice lacing clingint to the glass. A swirly wisp remains leaving some nice lacing on the glass. Head on this one is definitely a step up from the white label, as it’s not quite as crackly as the blue label either. Best looking one of the bunch.

SMELL: Whisky, oak, sweet cream, vanilla and milk chocolate on the nose. Coconut with some pure chocolate and fudge notes emerge as it sits as well. This is really nice and is virtually identical to the white and blue labels. Bold and balanced, and very decadent. Perhaps a touch more forthcoming for top scores, but it’s still great.

TASTE: Oak, whisky, sweet cream and some alcohol up front. More barrel notes at the swallow with milk chocolate notes as well, then a bold and persistent finish of whisky, oak, sweet vanilla cream, bitter pure chocolate, fudge brownies and some booze. The roasted malt and coffee notes come out as it sits. Lots of barrel and decadent fudge and sweet chocolate and cream flavors. This is basically the same as the white and blue labels but trades a bit of the vanilla character in exchange for some well measured booze. Regardless, it’s very much in line with the other bottlings of Rare DOS I’ve had in the past. Quality stuff.

PALATE: Full body and lower levels of carbonation. Weighty enough, silky slick on the palate, goes down smooth with less of a burn than the blue label and finishes sticky. A touch more heat than the white variant but not the burn of the blue label. Definitely silky and smooth, which I love. It could possibly use a touch more carbonation, as it tends to flatten out by the end of the glass, but that’s minor in my books.

OVERALL: Another winner. These three variants, the red, white and blue labels, are all virtually identical and lovely at that. This one has the best look of the bunch and is perhaps a touch more alcoholic than the others, but it’s still equally as smooth as white and includes the more pronounced roast and coffee character from blue. I’ve said this before but I’d much prefer if brewers just labeled these all the same, or blended them if it matters that much, instead of calling them all different beers, as the differences are so minor they’re irrelevant. I get the whole “we want to sell more,” but this is not something that Cycle needs to worry about. If I had to pick a favorite I’d probably pick this one, but again, it’s basically arbitrary. If I’d drunk them in another order I might have decided otherwise. In any case, these are all lovely and I would be happy to have piles of more Cycle imperial stout in my life. Thanks again 7Clutch! Absolute beauties!

Thanks Tommyguz for the share. Bomber into a snifter appears black in color with a dark khaki head that fades leaving spotty lace.

The nose is heavily roasted with licorice upfront leaning towards more char character, coffee, oak, chocolate, caramel and mild smokiness.

The taste is anise upfront then oak, char, coffee, chocolate, whiskey tang that is mildly solvent then long lingering earthen and almost ashy aftertaste.

This is medium to lighter in body with modest carbonation. A pretty solid brew that honestly feels like it carries some cigar city zhukov familiarity in its dark roasted character but with a lighter feel. Solid stuff, wish I had the chance to try more of these varieties.
