Heard of this place from others here on BA. Worked it into my birthday celebration plans. Driven past the area so many times without an inkling as to what was here. Stupid me.
The layout is very cool, though not literally in August. We sat outside and under shade with fans blowing and were reasonably comfortable on a muggy (like every summer day) August early evening. Wouldn't complain about more air-conditioned seating.
The service was good and friendly and quite responsive once they knew we were out there (everyone else was inside in the a/c). Knowledge of both food and beer was excellent.
The food was excellent, well prepared and not ostentatiously presented. Filling, exactly as expected and delicious. Price was a little more than I thought it should be for what you get but you cannot fault the quality or flavor. Not an everyday place but once a month easily until the snowbirds show up.
The beer was excellent though I didn't review any of it out of deference to my companions. Why should they have to look at the top of my head and talk amongst themselves while I put in a bunch of beer reviews? Sadly, none of the highly ranked brews were available or I would have reviewed them!
This area has got to be slammed in tourist season (Can we shoot them? What's the limit?) but in August is nice, a close by, but still out-of-the-way kind of place. Plenty of parking, easy to find. Pseudo-touristy without being all kitschy. Next trip up I will do the whole "stroll around the area" thing.
And I would have rated Peg's higher if the G.O.O.D. beers had been present, at least one of them. I was told they put out updates on Facebook about their availability but I have a life and won't use Facebook. Put it on the website!
Hours are now stable, open at 5 pm except Fri-Sat when they open at noon. Check the website.
