bright crisp aroma, the carbonation is large. great head retention. Belgian yeast character, mostly spicy aroma. very interesting floral character. medium light mouthfeel which rounds slightly as it warms. low to moderate hop flavor. possible hop aroma however i believe much of it is coming from the yeast. its a sold Belgian style ale however ive have had better for the money especially from stillwater.

Poured from a 500 mL bottle into a Brewer's Art goblet with a gentle hand. Label reads Batch #1, best by 5/14.

A: Cloudy, honey-colored body with a big, rocky, white head. 3+ fingers. Excellent retention. Moderate lacing. Solid.

S: Belgian yeast. Floral notes. Wisps of sweetness and tropical fruit that increase in intensity over the course of the glass. Lemon traces. Suggestion of funk. Delicate nose initially, but really opened up as it warmed.

T: Spicy and full up front with gradual fade to a lightly bitter, dry finish. Light alcohol. Indistinct fruit. Touch of sweetness. It's a bit difficult for me to pick out individual flavors/scents, but the overall effect is very nice.

M: Moderately high carbonation. Spritzy. Body is fairly light. Leaps off the tongue in a rush of effervescence. Nice and fitting. Does sit a bit heavily in the gut.

O: Very enjoyable. Refreshing with cohesive, well-integrated flavors. Wish the bottle was bigger.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a hazy golden amber, hard to tell what this would look like in a decent pour because this bottle turned out to be my least favorite kind: a sneaky gusher. Opened with a nice pop appearing fine, but as I moved towards the glass, it started gushering white foam like a washer in a comedy show. Barely getting it to my sink, gushering beer over my newly washed dishes, the bottle emptied 2/3's of its contents after fillng the glass with foam. How depressing. Since the bottle was badly agitated, my efforts to repour the remainder into another glass ended up with a third of a glass of cloudy ale with plenty of particulates in the bottom. Things get a bit better at this point; aroma of saison yeast, mild caramel malt, spicy light fruit with pepper and faint holiday spicing. Flavor of Belgian yeast with only a hint of saison funkiness, light stone fruit, grape. Finishes with nice slightly sweet stone fruit, Belgian spicing, especially clove and a hint of peppery spice. Medium bodied with (uh) active carbonation. A nice tasting Belgian styled saison, quite as well made as I'd expect from a Stillwater collaboration. Bummed that this not inexpensive 750ml bottle only produced about 8 ounces of ale, but what was there was pleasant. I don't see overcarbonation issues in other reviews, but if you have this sitting around, I'd drink it right away. How do you score something like this for appearance (could be quite nice, but I'll never know) or overall (I had to clean the kitchen again, kinda putting a damper on the overall experience). It was pleasant, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Addendum: Just saw that the last review wished his 500ml bottle was bigger; heh-heh, maybe you don't...

1pt 9.4 fl.oz. bottle (thanks to J Binefa). Flute glass. Bright straw color, foggy appearance. White froth leaves a thin, close & lasting crown. Aroma profile displays bread crust, yeasty, herbal, hay, floral, bread & citric peel as well as light biscuit notes to the nose rounded by spiced hues –also found in flavors. Sweet maltiness followed by crisp, floral & delicate citric peel. Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Dense & spicy mouthfeel. Slight woody notes, Cava memories & ripe apricot in the middle. Long sweet finish & dried aftertaste.

10oz pour on-tap at Of Love & Regret, Baltimore, MD.

Golden straw with 1 finger of white head. Excellent clarity, moderate carbonation and nice lacing.

Nectarine, white grape, barnyard and peppercorn.

Nectarine juice and white grape notes are exceedingly smooth and juicy. Hints of caramelized grain. Very light funk character with touches of Brett, potpourri and pink peppercorn.

Light bodied, crisp, clean, juicy and dry.

Very delicate, juicy and refreshing. The Spanish Nugget hops add unique white fruit characteristics that fit perfect with the Saison style.
