Opaque black body with a one-finger thick tan head. Cocoa powder and bitter chocolate aroma; charred grains; a touch of grape must (initially). Milk chocolate favor with an alcohol sting; a slight, fruity tartness; some phenolic bite; a twist of bitterness at the finish. Medium-heavy body; smooth; sweet at first yet finishes with a dry edge.
A lot of flavor and mouthfeel things go on with this beer. Overall, it's pretty tasty with a lot of dark grain character, boozy alcohol presence, and vinous, fruity undertones from the burgundy grape juice. There is enough distinctive taste notes to set this RIS apart from other examples of this style while still allowing for the fundamental style to shine through. It's definitely worth checking out...

Looks fine and smells OK, and maybe if this wasn't my first pour of the night I would've been more open to it, but this was terrible. No interesting flavor complexity to speak of. The best single-word tasting note I'd have would be Overcooked... Our group drained it :/

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with nice brown foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with molasses is enjoyable. Taste is a mix between light roasted malt with some black chocolate notes with quite a lot of residual sugar notes and some molasses. Body is full with good carbonation and no real apparent alcohol notes. Sweeter then I usually like my imperial stout but enjoyable nonetheless.

This is a well made beer, but the addition of the grape juice just doesn't do it for me. It adds a fruit syrup flavor that I didn't like. I actually didn't finish my pour.
