Stillwater IPA?? WTF, right? Well truth be told we love a good IPA just as much as the next guy and besides, what's more contemporary then a American IPA? The lean base of Pilsner malt with the lightest touch of caramel support this high definition blend of 6 intricately layered hops gathered from around the world. Bright citrus, stone fruit, pine, earth, dank, crisp & fucking delicious.

Poured into a Funky Buddha Brewery snifter. Bottleneck says 03315.
A- Pours a semi-hazy medium amber color with a 3/4 inch off-white head that retains decently before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a large center patch of bubbly surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a jagged ring behind.
S- Somewhat juicy hop aroma with some grassy notes accompanying. A bit musty.
T- Bitterness slowly creeps in along with some grassy hop flavor. Some notes of grapefruit pith. Moderate breadiness from the malt.
M- Very sharp with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.
O- Decent but it's very one-note with the hops just providing the same recurring theme with little balance. Glad I only bought a single.

Unknown vintage; drank 7/19/15 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big eggshell head; a frothy curtain of lace.
Fresh soap, pine & mild orange citrus notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Fresh soap & pine flavors up front; a bracing-ly bitter finish. Not too good.

Poured from the bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Bit of a cloudy appearance, and tangerine orange body. Very small amounts off carbonation that meet up with a solid three finger off white head. Lots of staying power and retention, not even budging hardly. A bit of a few floaties but nothing major.
Aroma manages some unexpected things. Spicy orange citrus in that same tangerine vein as the body color which is nice, but a small grainy almost adjunct seems to feel like its coming off the nose. Mild soft caramel, almost butterscotch like adds a nice dimension as well. Luckily subsequent checks on the nose provide more hop pleasure while drinking.
Palate is quite large. Big dry amounts of astringent hops on first sip, and continuing with controlled pine and lime qualities. Slightly citrus and sweet caramel a bit, but a real dry lingering but controlled bitterness. A little bit of caramel on the finish and lots of accentuating woody and earth dryness on the finish.
A pretty different aggressive take on an IPA that forgoes giant aroma for a sharp but controlled palate. Solid brew.
