16 oz can poured into a willi becher glass. Pours a light orange color with a smallish off-white head. Aroma and flavor feature Belgian yeast esters (clove, spiced pear), green apple, light candi sugar, and a bit more bitterness than typical saisons. Hint of alcohol as well. Overall a decent saison that makes me want to pick up some more saisons (though probably not this one again).

Purchased a 4 Pk of 16 oz cans for under $9 making this a bargain. Pours an opaque orange with creamy white head that linger and leaves plenty of lacing. The nose is fresh & crisp with tropical fruit overtones. The taste is enjoyable and sits mid palate with a somewhat bitter finish. It has many of the great qualities of the Saison style but is light in the peppery characteristics that one may be accustomed to and is my only reason for not rating it higher. All in all this is an excellent Saison and a go to when I see it on the shelves.

Hart dark orange appearance.
Around a medium body with just below average carbonation.
Aroma is a nice mix of citrus fruit and peel along with other fruit such as pear and apple.
Grain, earthy, coriander, and something that reminds me of sweet tart candy.
Taste has mild hop bitterness along with a crisp sweet earthiness. Definitely citrus peel and fruit and a dry citrus peel finish.
A really nice solid beer that you won't be disappointed trying

Of those on BA's page of 50 most-rated saisons, there are only six left that I have a reasonable probability of having (without traveling to the brewery or its state.) Now, there are five with Stateside. It is always a pleasure to check-off what I might have found previously. And having just bought a 4-pack from The Beer Temple, I can review Stateside with different foods. First dive in was a pairing with my world-famous ratatouille. Stateside passed. Even made it better in that this batch had a bit much fennel, so that spice was calmed by Stateside's wheat.

Stateside's big strength is its yeast and this sets it apart from the American micro saison wannabes. Despite a huge rocky head that can emerge, Stateside's yeast does not show as really active in this saison's Looks. Its yeast seems well-constructed and, I'll presume, maintained well. This makes for a full nose and Taste. Very integrated, this follows through in the Feel. Although it is important for me not to drink Stateside too cold as its flavors are fuller as it warms.

This is my fourth saison from Stillwater. I certainly will have any more I can find. I also will try any of their Belgians. Because Stillwater is a gypsy brewer, it has iconoclastic characteristics like Belgian brewers. Maybe that is why Stillwater has figured Belgians out.

6/27/21 Had a second can along with my ratatouille and a simple veggie burger. Both were made better by Stateside. If I find this enough, it could be in my stable of saisons. In the meantime, I'm keeping count over at UnTappd.

Presentation: 16 oz. can with a batch number on the bottom but no dates. Served in a

Appearance: The one finger, white colored head stays around for a while and leaves behind a thin foam layer and a lot of lacing all over the glass. It's a slightly cloudy, straw color.

Smell: It's a fresh aroma of lemon zest, orange and lime. There's a rustic, barnyard note in there too.

Taste: Fruity at first with notes of orange and lemon. There's also some hay in there and a touch of coriander.

Mouthfeel: It's light, crisp, refreshing and very smooth with medium high carbonation.

Overall: A very good saison that's easy to drink, crisp, flavorful and refreshing.

Shared 750 ml bottle, at Håndverkerstuene, Oslo. ABV 6.8%. Hazy deep golden colour, moderate white head. Strong spicy aroma, also farmhouse notes, hints of oaked cider. Spicy and fruity flavour, some acidity but not unpleasant. Decent hops. A good and interesting beer.

Opened on 1-13-20 and poured into a snifter.

A: Hazy gold color. Can't see fingers through glass. Thin head with good lacing.

S: Bubble gum and citrus fruits dominate. Background notes of lemongrass and chamomile.

T: Taste follows nose with a prominent combination of pithy citrus and phenolic bubble gum. Some tropical fruitiness follows, but is quickly replaced by an astringent bitterness. I can't tell if the latter is contributed by hops or grain.

M: Biting carbonation and a pithiness that dries the palate. Would be thin and watery if it weren't for the astringency.

O: A refreshing beer that would be best enjoyed on a cool summer evening, or early fall around a campfire. Good take on the style, but could be less astringent. The combination of saison phenolics and hop fruitiness is enticing.

From the big bottle of indeterminate age, it pours a hazy amber with a nice white head that quickly diminishes to a layer 1/2 inch thick. In the nose, it is a bit funky. In the mouth, it has an interesting flavor of a slight funk and nice malt.

From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter.
This mighty fine saison pours a chill hazed straw color with a nice head of
white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and sports
some nice lacing. Nose of pineapple, mango, pine, cracker, white pepper,
and subtle herbal notes with light honey malts, and light farmhouse funky
goodness. Flavors exceed the nose with light pineapple, light papaya,
mango, faint pine, white pepper, cracker, balanced honey sweet malts,
and a nice farmhouse yeast note. Very nice mouth feel; medium light
body, medium light carbonation that is nicely effervescent, and a nice
and lightly funky dry finish.

The best of the saisons I have tried this year.

Of note, this is the "Remastered; 2017 edition", and if this
is the remastered version I say keep it---it is balanced and
sublime.

Cheers

From notes 8/20/13: A gentle pour brings forth a hazy deep gold colored brew. The pour produces 3+ fingers of dense, shaving cream-like, lasting, white head that leaves surprisingly few streaks and motes of lace for its size. Aroma is sweet and yeasty; heavy with white fruits, slightly phenolic with a hint of banana and faint coriander. Taste is bready, cracker and pale malts, cotton candy and yeasty fruit notes of peach, pear and white grape with a dry grass hoppiness with sour and bitter flavors in the finish and aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, moderate to high carbonation; peppery and a little slick.

best of both worlds saison. love the brewer. enjoyed with crab cake on crusty bread with avacado, salad, olives and a side of watermelon, mint, fetta salad.

a / body is slight hazed honey-amber, topped by a creamy lacing and retentive head.
s / Spice, honey, fruit with dried orange peel, coriander, white pepper, white biscuit.
t / honeyed taste experience, more caramel and sweeter than a belgique, with pepper and cumin to balance. great food beer.
f / mid-light body, cleans up well, peppery finish, crisps what is otherwise wet and sweet.
o / ample, generous, big saison for the price.

Canned on 4/4/19. 16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with some haze to it; fluffy white head that falls slowly leaving great thick retention and nice lacing. The aromas have some citrus, banana and bubblegum going on. Some hops. Some wheat and malts. The flavors basically follow the nose. More citrus. Some grapefruit coming through. Some fresh grass. More banana and bubblegum in the mix. There's a mild and subtle sweetness to this one, but it's still more on the bitter side. Solid hop flavors. Wheat is there. Malts are there, but doesn't dominate and almost takes a backseat. Finishes juicy and dry at the same time, but it's probably on the drier side. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's on the fuller side of medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's very sharp, crisp, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a pretty solid brew. It kind of has a "Belgian IPA" vibe going on. It's obviously not a traditional example of the style, but it's simply enjoyable stuff. It's refreshing and fitting for the warmer weather. I like it.

Stillwater never disappoints. In the case of this lovely, we have a wonderful representation of a saison. The body is a clear amber with minimal lacing and a modicum of carb bubbles within. I detected a quick nose of green apples; there is a sharp floral bite and a crisp body to even it all out. Nice and easy mouthfeel, along with a crisp body, makes this very approachable to one wishing to try a saison - to see what the fuss is all about. I would recommend a tulip glass. Nuff said. Enjoy.
