Notes/Commercial Description:
Human history is filled with myths and legends that shape and define our culture. Rituals, celebrations, gatherings.. whatever. One thing that’s for sure, is we enjoy a proper shindig. So let’s get the stories flowing and share a little ’Folklore’. A bracingly deep ale, built dark and rich with an elegantly lean body, accompanied by heady aromas of Belgian yeast, earthy hops and gently kissed by a wisp of smoke.

This beer was formerly known as 25 to One.

12oz longneck
A) Pours with a finger thick head, tight, creamy, dark tan in color. Body is opaque. Heads settles slowly.
S) Potent, imperial stout type aroma. Hints of cherry, chocolate. Woody, cedar-ish. Yeasty.
T) Chocolate. Alcohol. Coffee. Some oak notes. Subtle hop bitterness in the finish.
M) Chewy. Thick, full body. Creamy. Alcohol warmth.
O) A delicious "stout" whether Belgian or untraditional. I'd definitely would drink another one.

Black with a sticky tan head. Roasty and chocolatey nose. The taste is very nice. A little boozy, lots of chocolate and some roasty notes. Nice roasty aftertaste. The body is thin for the abv. Carbonation is lower, yet soft. Nice overall brew here and fair take on the style.

A: Dark brown, almost black body with a tan head. Nice amount of lace and good head retention.
S: Chocolate, dark fruit and coffee aromas.
T: Bittersweet chocolate, smoky and boozy flavors.
M: Medium bodied and tasty.
O: Solid stout that is quite flavorful.

Bottled 1/2/14.

Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Tiny streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, char, and slight smoke aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, char, and smoke flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid roast and smoke aspects all around.

Bottle from early 2014 so a few months old and poured into a glass. Black shimmering color thin mocha ring around glass. Smells of spent coffee grinds, bitter chocolate. Taste follows the nose with a notable Belgian yeast punch that hits midsip. I get a fairly pleasant coffee bitterness. Carb medium.
Overall I actually am enjoying this. Wouldn't go crazy to find but it's good

Paid $3.49 for the single from Vintage Estate. Belgium Strong Dark ale or Traditional Stout? Soon I will find out.

A - Well it looks very stout like has a deep almost pitch black hue with a 1/3 inch of head that sticks around forever. This head is a deep mocha and makes for some great lacing.
S - Smell is very sour but not brett induced. Dark fruits and some cherry notes so I guess its not very stout like. Still I am excited to try.
T - Quite different than most Belgium Dark ales. Starts off as any other mildly sour then goes sweet with some plum and raisin but toward the finish I was amazed with actual chocolate and mild coffee roasts. The flavors are complex and constant with every sip. I love it.
M - Quite smooth medium bodied beverage with a chewy body.

Overall I was very impressed with this beer it was a clash of two styles and it worked out great. Next time I am at Vintage Estate I will be sure to grab another.
