Human history is filled with myths and legends that shape and define our culture. Rituals, celebrations, gatherings.. whatever. One thing that’s for sure, is we enjoy a proper shindig. So let’s get the stories flowing and share a little ’Folklore’. A bracingly deep ale, built dark and rich with an elegantly lean body, accompanied by heady aromas of Belgian yeast, earthy hops and gently kissed by a wisp of smoke.

This beer was formerly known as 25 to One.

Deep dark cellar brown
Wafts metallic and a bit fruity like raisins
Guzzling the beer brings me coffee, roasted nuts, cocoa, licorice
Mouthfeel is medium thin with plenty of bubbles
Overall it’s a stable brew although a little on the metallic side for me

From Miguel. In Teku glass. Removing beer labels. Just the adequate amount of licorice and pleasant herbal bitterness. Some chocolate, roasted without unpleasant torrefact notes

Pours a dark black color with coffee-chocolate hints; Nice ring of head even in Tulsa Doom, the snifter that seems to decapitate all heads.

Very Belgian in its aroma - everything from metallic yeast strains to fig notes and quad-like bourbon soaked dates. Still, there's a hint of oats and coffee underneath that seems to bring it into 10% stout category.

Strong coffee notes out front, followed by a mix of unsweetened cocoa, dark belgian yeast, dark berry, metallic plum, roots, and light ash. The finish is what I can only describe as bourbon soaked rice. All of that 8.4% is felt AND tasted. Very much a Belgian Dark Ale and on a lesser level a stout, but still a pretty fair comparison to say it's a mix between the two.

Feel flirts between medium and full bodied, with a distinct chalky dryness on the finish. Moderate carbonation throughout, definitely not sharp or strong.

Overall, yes, it's interesting. It's something best drank ice cold and not pondered over. When just simply sipped without thoughts going through your mind on what you're tasting, it works pretty well. When you attempt to pick apart the anatomy of Folklore, it begins to taste like an ashy fruity coffee chalk mess.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This fine stout pours a dark brownish black
with a modest had of khaki foam that settles to a thick ring. Nose of chocolate and dark
fruits with a touch of molasses. Flavors exceed the nose with dark fruited notes and dark
sweet chocolate mingling with a touch of dark molasses and a touch of lightly smoked
malts on the rear and aftertaste. Very nice mouth feel, smooth, moderately carbonated,
and full bodied without being chewy and a sweet subtly dry finish. VERY nice.

Cheers
