Brewed with whole juniper bushes, farmhouse ale yeast (brettanomyces) and a touch of smoke. Like a Viking Saison, yeah.

A- Poured from the 500ml bottle to two pint glasses with Chico1985. Opening the bottle it was obvious that the hiss was extremely loud and of course the beer started foaming out immediately. Pouring reveals a fairly clear golden brew with a head that takes up about 80% of the pint glasses. Retention is painfully long and lace is thick and plentiful. Appears "infected."

S- Funk fills the room as the bottle is exploding. Smells somewhat like a Gueuze and the funk from the Brett is super strong with some lemony tartness behind that. Light fruits like apples and white grapes come to mind as well.

T- Brett takes over the show here. Dried pineapple, horsey barnyard, cherry pie and some lactic tartness comes to mind. Juniper is certainly present but the smoke I remember from having it on tap seems to be gone. Some spicy and citrus yeast feel.

MF- Considering how the bottle foamed up for over 10 minutes, the mouthfeel is quite foamy with carbonation being at an astronomical level. Slight tartness on the back end in the finish.

Brett flavors dominate for me. I like the Brett feel here and the Juniper is somewhat present. Funky and still worth drinking despite the insane bottle bomb status. I hope more and more Brett forward beers show up on the market.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Moderate gusher upon opening. Pours slightly hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big lemon, pear, apple, juniper, clove, pepper, hay, straw, grass, wheat, bread, musty funk, light wood smoke, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy/funky yeast, juniper, pale malt, and light smoke notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, juniper, clove, pepper, hay, straw, grass, herbal, wood smoke, wheat, bread, light musty funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spiciness and some slight tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, clove, pepper, juniper, hay, straw, grass, herbal, wheat, bread, light wood smoke, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity/spicy/funky yeast, juniper, pale malt, and moderate smoke flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent smoked/juniper saison. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy/funky yeast, juniper, pale malt, and moderate smoke flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a pale yellow with minimal head retention. The nose is yeasty with notes of citrus. Comes on with yeast. It's tart but light on the tongue with medium to high carbonation. It finishes sweet and smooth.

I'm not a huge saison fan but this was fairly drinkable and enjoyable.

22oz bottle, cost $10

Pours a hazy pale gold, thin foam head with mild lacing.

Smells is fresh cut grass, citrus.

Taste follows smell with crisp lemon and grass up front. A little orange peel, sour wheat and some mild barnyard funk and maybe some peppercorn. Refreshing and goes down smooth.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp, ABV is well hidden and beers goes down

Overall, a good refreshing farmhouse ale with crisp flavors. Perfect for summer time, but overpriced at $10 a bottle.

A: 2 finger's width of fluffy white head on a slightly cloudy, vibrantly golden beer.

S: The aroma is light and citrusy, with loads of yeast. There is a medicinal quality to the beer as well. It's an unusual aroma.

T: The beer is quite light, with all the yeast that the aroma suggested. It is lemony, a lot of spices, like coriander, and brings the medicinal found in the aroma, and a lot of yeast bitterness.

M: Light, bitter crispness. Very dry.

O: It is an interesting beer, and quite tasty. Everything works together very nicely. Definite points for originality. I don't think I'd want to drink it every day.

Poured from the bottle a cloudy straw yellow with one finger of bright white head.

Aroma of lemon, pear, white wine, herbs, and smoke.

Taste? See aroma. Lemon, white wine grapes and herbal notes upfront with a smokey finish. The finish also had a taste that I can only describe as "band aid". Interesting.

Medium bodied and dry with a moderate carbonation.

This is one beer that grew on me as I drank it. And bonus points to Stillwater for originality.
