375ml bottle - $6.98 at Sherlock's in Marietta, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, bright yellow body with a stiff, expanding, white head that never quite fizzles out.

Smell: Yeast, earthy nose, with spicy, herbal, cracked, gently toasted grain tones, like spice and grains discarded in a basement with a thin drip of fruit and citrus juice.

Taste: Rustic, coarse yet smooth grains layered with tastes of biscuits, sourdough, sliced pear, light banana, white pepper, and a coating of musty, earthy yeast. Restrained sweetness. Floral, clove-dosed citrus juice. Minerally. Spicy, dry, effervescent finish with a hint of white grapeskin.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Well-carbonated.

Overall: A yeast quaffer if there ever was one!

On tap at When Pigs Fly Pizzeria. They have the most amazing beer selections, and a lot of them are half price during during Happy Hour.

In a pilsner (!) glass, the beer was a hazy orange color with a tiny white head.

It had a spicy, funky aroma initially, but then there were some citrus notes. Very interesting. A little hoppy aroma also.

The taste was that of a spicy lemon. There were some late grapefruit hops.

Nice and crisp, a fun beer. It seemed to me to be more of Belgian IPA than a saison.

(Served in a tulip glass)
A- This beer pours a slightly hazy bright copper body with a violent carbonation from the nucleation point supporting a boiling snow white head.

S- The notes of fruity esters and a slight sweet cereal note and a flinty character comes through as it finishes.

T- The nice dry dried fruit saison yeast ester leads to a bitter pith and some pale malt dried fruit flavors in the finish.

M- Medium mouthfeel has a full scrubbing fizz that scrubs the flavor in the finish.

O- The nice dried fruit flavors with a touch of sweetness is covered by fizz and it is pretty tasty but not worth the $9.00 for 12 oz. bottle.

Pours hazed gold/apricot with a pinky of sand colored head. Hazes up even more as the bottle is decanted, above average head retention & lacing

S: Sourness, funk & band-aids, golden delecious apples

T: White grape juice with a touch of juicy fruit & banana taffy, plus lemon zest up front. Green apple skin, hay & some lemon & grapefruit as this warms, plus just a bit of peach. Finishes with dandeloin wine, white grapes & peach skin

MF: Light/medium bodied, firm carbonation, very refreshing

Very refreshing, a nice saison, albeit bloody expensive...

Served from tap into a Trappe Door tulip. Poured a golden yellow with a two finger white head that subsided to a half finger very slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, banana, sugar, spices, bubblegum, and earth. The flavor was of sweet malt, banana, bubblegum, earth, and spices. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. Unfortunately nothing really stood out on this one flavor-wise. However, the aroma had a very nice complex aspect going on. I just wish the flavor would have followed suit as this would have been one Hell of a brew if that were the case. Definitely worth trying if you get the chance.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dirty beige color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma consists of rustic malt with some fresh cut hay and some light funky ester. Taste is a wonderful mix between some rustic malt notes with nice dry floral notes with fresh-cut hay and light funky notes. Body is quite full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Perfect mix between complexity and drinkability.

Gold colored body under a large, frothy white head. Nice retention as a fat half inch topping. Smells of Belgian yeast and quality pale malt toastiness. Golden raisins, grass, pears, faint unripe banana, and flowers. Flavor continues with the delightful doughy, cereal malt sweetness which transitions to flower petals, mild phenolics, straw, grape, and peppery yeast. Medium bodied, dry, and nicely crisp to keep things very drinkable. Quite a good, sort of rustic, authentic Belgian farmhouse ale.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a light hazy straw color. Healthy two finger Pours a light hazy straw color. Healthy two finger fine white head with good retention and massive lacing. Aroma of bready malt, light lemon, more Belgian spicing than funk, which is fine with me. Flavor follows, very lemony, sweet malt, wheat and light fruit. Finish combines a dry bitterness with faint sweet residual fruit. On the low end of funkiness for a saison, which is exactly the way I like it. Flavor is very subdued, but pleasant and refreshing. Light to medium bodied, as expected. Glad I got to try this ale made from a bronze age era wheat variety and from two excellent breweries. If they had a beer like this at that time, they were very lucky.
