Pours a hazy yellow color with a finger and a half of white head.

Smells of light clove, heavy yeast and some hints of sweet grain.

Follows the nose with a light clove, an estery fruit character, some bubblegum and a nice bitterness on the finish.

Light mouthfeel with some dryness from the combination of hops with ample carbonation.

Very drinkable and more complex than most Belgo Strong Pales I've had, mostly due to this one not being all esters.

No label information. As Follows is brewed in the style of a Belgian Strong Pale Ale. Available in 12 oz. 4 packs and on limited draft.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a Tulip glass. Served above 59º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a crisp foamy head of an eggshell white color over a banana yellow body with medium haze and plenty of sediment. Retention is good, lacing is light and spotty. 3.75

(Smell) Belgian cracker malt with a moderate syrupy viscosity underneath. Musty, peppery hops with an assertive bitterness. Peppery spices of coriander and clove, and bitter orange peel. Fairly effervescent. 3.75

(Taste) Cracker and syrupy malt with a moderate sweetness finishes bitter with musty orange rind and a soft arrangement of spice. Notes of lemon juice, apricot and raw pineapple round out the flavor profile. More boldly flavored over the aroma, it finishes very dry and yet is quite drinkable. 4

(Mouthfeel) Texture is slick, residual and lightly peppery. Carbonation generates a soft crispness for a mellow spritely mouthfeel. Body is medium for the style, medium/heavy overall. Alcohol presence is medium. 3.75

(Overall) A strongly flavored Belgian Style Strong Golden Ale with a flavorful malt base, potent phenols and a bold spiciness create one flavorful beer. 4

12oz Bottle from Whole Foods Las Vegas NV for $4

Appearance - Gold colour with a large size white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Hops, yeast, breads/grains, lemons, hops

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste banana, breads/grains, hops, and a peppery spice mix. There is also oranges/lemons, coriander/clove, and a bit of a funk.

Overall - Seriously good stuff. Lots of vibrant flavour and a complex taste that keep this beer very interesting throughout. It's also incredibly refreshing. A winner.

The color is intensely bright and has a glow of yellow. It's capped by a dense foam that sat as a film for the entire drink.

The nose is thick with a floral perfume, honeysuckle and lemon.

The nose really didn't reveal enough because the flavors are quite diverse, blend seamlessly and hold tremendous character. The beginning is just a bit spicy with black peppercorn, Apple and bubblegum. Mid palate seems to be banana and cider qualities while it finishes with a stronger banana and orchard fresh Apple.

The feel is sprite and airy, smooth and a bit dry.

Had no expectations at all when ordering this but it is a true diamond in the rough.

Pour is hazed golden yellow with a tight white head. Nose is nice, moderate farmhouse yeast, lighter spice and lemon with faint notes of fresh grain. Taste is sweeter, farmhouse is present and still balanced. More lemon and pepper than the nose, well carbonated light body and fairly dry. Finish is sweet with grapefruit bitterness.

I enjoyed this on tap in a stemmed glass at Of Love & Regret on my birthday

The color is golden with lightly hazed appearance and thick white head that holds for a long time with fine bead and thick webbing of lace left on the glass. The smell is faintly vinous with hoppy aromas with bring and herbal and spiced element with possibly a sweet grass-like fragrance. The feel is nice and dry on entry with moderate bitterness slight malt texture with yeast spiciness and dry warming finish.

The taste is following the nose yet expands with more herbal and resinous hops mixed with the grassy flavor yet mild astringency with gentle yeast with peppery accent and moderately high carbonation adding to the yeast tanginess in the back of the throat. The flavor is lightly pine oriented with gentle zest and the yeast also brings a vinous element to mind. Overall a very complex Belgian Strong pale with tons of hoppy yeasty cohesion and dry finish making it all the more drinkable. For the 9% it packs you barely get any alcohol in the flavor-deceptive is right!

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Duvel tulip glass. Bottled on 12/13/13.

Appearance: Pours a hazy golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid two fingers of white head that slowly fade into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.

Smell: A yeasty, juicy, and spicy Belgian style aroma with big hints of citrus fruit. Upfront Belgian yeast with some hints of clove and pepper spicing. Pale malt with hints of wheat, straw, grains, and cracker. Big citrus hop presence with hints of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, lemon, and apricot. Some banana and apple hints as well. Sweet hints of honey and candied sugar. Subtle earthy hints. A pretty good aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a yeasty, fruity, and fairly spicy Belgian style taste with big notes of citrus fruit. Belgian yeast with some notes of clove and pepper spicing. Pale malt with some notes of wheat, straw, cracker, and grains. Banana and apple fruit notes. Good juicy presence of citrus hops with some notes of orange peel, mango, grapefruit, apricot, and lemon. Sweet notes of candied sugar and a little honey. Some earthy and grassy hops in the background. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a medium to high level of carbonation. Juicy and fairly spicy with a drying finish. Alcohol heat is masked well.

Overall: A very good take on a Belgian style Strong Ale. Good mix of yeast and spice notes with a nice citrus presence.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/13/2013. Pours hazy/cloudy deep gold color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, black pepper, clove, herbal, grass, wheat, bread, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with great strength. Taste of big lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, banana, black pepper, clove, herbal, grass, wheat, bread, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spice/hop bitterness on the finish, with some slight fruity tartness; with lingering notes of lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, banana, black pepper, clove, herbal, grass, wheat, bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian strong pale ale. All around nice balance and complexity of yeast, malt, and hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
