Produced a nice two finger white head. Beer color is a hazy gold.

Smell is of hay, biscuit, and banana.

Taste is similar, but with a little hop bite, not overpowering. Medium mouth-feel, and carbonation. Nice lacing.

Very good stuff! Easy drinking for 9 percent.

Poured into a Gouyasse tulip glass. Pours a light, clear golden amber with a massive slightly off-white head and pillowy lacing. A careful pour had half a glass of foam, which slowly formed large bubbles but had good retention. Aroma of apple, grape and pear juice, Belgian spicing yeast reminiscent of saison. Flavor dry, apples, pears, slight citrus, light bready malt, finishing with and interesting spicy herbal taste, similar to sage or rosemary. Bitter herbal and citrus peel aftertaste that had interesting enough flavor to be enjoyable. Light to medium bodied, but active carbonation gave this a pleasant mouth feel. Another interesting and off-the-main-road ale from Stillwater. These guys are great.

Served in a tulip glass. Glass of cold water on the side to sip from periodically.

Appearance: As served the beer is a slightly hazed golden yellow with a 1/16” white head that quickly recedes to a ring.

Smell: The aromas include touches of spice, apricot or peach, and lemony citrus buttressed by the yeast.

Taste: The flavors are much as expected from the nose except that there is some earthy, herbal hop bitterness in the mix and the alcohol isn’t really noticeable.

Mouthfeel: The mouth feel is on the light side of medium bodied and the carbonation is light, smooth and persistent. The medium length finish begins with a bit of fruity sweetness and then the herbal bitterness emerges and things turn lightly dry.

Drinkability and Overall Impression: I quite enjoyed this beer and would be happy to have it again in the future. My overall impression is of a well-made beer worth sampling and having more than once. I certainly would be willing to have this one again.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a finger and a half of white head.

Smells of light clove, heavy yeast and some hints of sweet grain.

Follows the nose with a light clove, an estery fruit character, some bubblegum and a nice bitterness on the finish.

Light mouthfeel with some dryness from the combination of hops with ample carbonation.

Very drinkable and more complex than most Belgo Strong Pales I've had, mostly due to this one not being all esters.

Served on tap at DBGB Kitchen & Bar in New York, NY

A: Pours a hazy golden yellow in color. The beer has a half finger tall fizzy off-white head that reduces to a film over the majority of the surface of the beer and a thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Significant lacing is observed.

S: This beer has the prototypical smell that you would expect from the style (including a bit of a saison influence). There is quite a bit of a lemony citrus aroma with hints of spices and some light floral hops.

T: There is some light earthiness with a fair amount of lemon citrus and spices. You can definitely taste the floral hops but there is very little bitterness. Quite delicious.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Very dry.

O: Very enjoyable and very easy to drink. The alcohol is quite well hidden but with the higher ABV this beer is just a little too strong to be sessionable. I enjoyed this beer quite a bit and would definitely have it again.

Slightly cloudy golden in colour with a large white head. Very good retention.

Smell is unusual. Lots of fruit, very tropical. A seriously strong pineapple scent. Another reviewer mentions fruit cocktail. That is spot on. Some yeast as well, but the tropical fruit scent dominates.

Taste is rather different. Surprisingly dry, with the yeast playing a larger role. The fruit is there but the beer is not the sweet fruit blast that the nose suggested. Rather spicy. The pineapple is there but in the background, along with other fruit flavours. A bit powdery in the finish. Fairly bitter.

Full bodied, moderately carbonated. Quite creamy.

Overall, very good. The discrepancy between the nose and the flavour is remarkable, but both are very good in different ways. The hops really play a bigger role in this beer than is typical for the style, but it works.

Look: golden - check, nice equal billowy white head - check, but it does descent very fast. Leaves a nice ring. Carbonation looks descent. There are some particles visible.

Smell: fruity, citrus zest, hint of mango, apple, yeast and there is definitely some funk. It's also slightly spicy. Everything is very subtle yet well balanced.

Taste: again, very well balanced. Starts fruity then goes to sweet dry malty middle and into some funk and tart - very nice, saison like. Bitterness also well balanced, with a nice aftertaste. High alcohol is surprisingly well hidden.

Mouthfeel: nice, slightly spicy carbonation, medium, creamy, silky body. Goes down nice and smooth with medium dry finish.

Overall: Very easy fruity yet a very well balanced complex story with some funk and spicy notes to take it to another level.

Oh, and absolutely love the bottle label.
