Pleasantly surprised to have found the ideal warm weather beer (in theory) for me. A sessionable saison in six packs of cans? Shit. High expectations going in, within reason. I was hoping for something better than Victory Swing but obviously not DuPont.
A: Hard to say because I drank from the can, but cloudy for sure which is one of my biggest gripes with Victory Swing. An unfiltered saison to me feels like heresy.
S: Yeasty, spicy, and fruity. Smells real good.
T: Reminds me of Victory Swing to an extent BUT slightly more balanced and nuanced, but still very clove/pepper heavy with some nice Belgian character.
M: This is what, in my opinion, makes this beer so great. Despite it being what I'd consider a session saison, the mouthfeel and carbonation are spot on and it's tough to tell you're drinking something under 5%. Awesome
O: Coming into this with high expectations, I must say I'm impressed overall. For a $11 sixer, I need good reason to buy something like that frequently and, honestly, I can see myself buying this very frequently as summer approaches. Highly recommended.

12oz can picked up at the COOP a month back.. pours clear straw golden.. white head with flecks in the pillow.
Big phenolic bubblegum and minor clove and peppercorn.. white wheat.. green apple esters.
Flavor is nicely done with the lower ABV... clovey phenols and grassy/lemon hops mesh a fermented out pale malt essence..
big carbonation.. still pretty drinkable... The low ABV is special, I would like to see this more often in the coolers.

Pours yellow with a quickly fading head.
Nose shows some Belgian yeast, some farmhouse funky notes, soft vegetal hints and banana.
Some of the Belgian and farmhouse notes remain as flavours along with a corn note and apple characters.
Carbonation is a bit excessive.

A Saison in a can??? Yes, please...
A - A fairly active pour that yields a bit more than three fingers worth of crisp airy fluffy pure white colored frothy goodness comprised of lots and lots of big chunky bubbles... Rock solid retention... Once settles there is a swirled lacing with a heavy dollop in the center of the glass and a modest collar... The color is a pale to medium gold... There is a very slight haziness throughout... A slight bit of lacing clings to the glass...
S - Lots of lemon zest... Fresh cut grass... Some wheat notes... Belgian yeast... Green apples... Pears... Perhaps some light white pepper notes... Deep and complex... Each whiff reveals a new subtle nuance...
T - The spice component is dialed up several notches on the palate... Sage... White pepper... Some mint notes as well... Tart citrus... Lots of grassy / wheat notes... Some flaky white biscuit as well... The Belgian yeast component lingers beneath the surface and adds nice depth and complexity...
M - Light to medium bodied... Brisk carbonation... Crisp and refreshing... Starts with a touch of dryness... The dryness intensifies throughout... The finish is a bit leathery...
D - I picked this one up on a whim and was quite happy that I did... While this one may fall a bit short of world class Saison, it's not too far off... There's a lot to offer in this 4.5% offering from Stillwater Artisan Ales... I can't say a single bad thing about this brew... I'm rather infatuated with it at this moment... Cheers...
