The color is a clean shade of cognac with a sprite and lively fizz for a head.
The aromas are tart and cidery, with a cherry fruitiness and a strong balsamic vinegar.
The taste and feel is very dry and it hits with a greatness but never hurts. Smooth sour cherries and cider are strong on the tongue but it doesn't make you wince or pucker.
This is funky in that it's vinegar aroma is too strong for my taste but not funky at all in flavor. In fact it's the lack of funk that makes this an easy tasteful ride.

Poured into a tulip out of a 22oz bomber.
Pours a clear deep brownish-red with just the tiniest hint of fizz. Not much carbonation to this one but sometimes that is not a bad thing.
Aroma right off the bat lets you know this one is going to be quite tart. Very minerally that almost borders on metallic. Some strawberry and cherry notes along with a slight hint of vanilla. Not a big shot of funkiness that I was expecting.
Very vinous, mineral character in the flavor. Huge tartness that is enough to sting the nose. Lots of cherry with vanilla even more prominent, I'm assuming from the barrel aging. Some light, prickly carbonation on the tip of the tongue nicely compliments the tartness. Mouthfeel is light and silky finishing quite dry. Vanilla/wood lingers for a long while.
Overall, the more I sip on this the more I like it. It is a bit of a shock up front with the tartness but the finish lingers for what seems like forever. If you love sours you really need to give this one a shot.
