On draft from fox & hound in Ohio.

A black porter with a small creamy "coke" colored head with minimal lacing.

A deep chocolate and coffee aroma with a hint of vanilla.

Taste was similar to aroma - chocolate up front with a long lasting slightly bitter coffee finish with mild vanilla undertones.

Mouth feel was nice, smooth & lightly creamy. Very little alcohol taste or burn for a 7.6%ABV.

I very good chocolate vanilla porter that I hope to drink again (465 characters)

Considering the not so great reviews I was fairly impressed with this beer. I would revisit this beer for sure. (111 characters)

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #77 (June 2013):

LOOK: Opaque, black, decent lacing

SMELL: Heavy vanilla, coffee grounds, earthy, roasted grain, sweet nose, alcohol

TASTE: Sweet, full bodied, assertive vanilla, burnt sugar, cowboy coffee, faint black cherries, brown malt, toasty graininess, mild charcoal, mild esters, feigned sweet finish

A big brew, but not really robust. The flavorings noted are there, but nothing really pops; they do, however, still work well enough without taking away from the fact that this is a Porter. Give it a try—a beer to share, or perhaps it will grow on you … a big Porter with no bite. (630 characters)

Not bad at all, that being said . . . I wasn't impressed either. About average for the style in every way. Roebling was a able to hold up in feel over the duration of drinking. But with no real depth to this beer it's a one and done for me. (241 characters)

Aroma of vanilla very prominent. Creamy tan colored head that lasts. Amazing flavor of coffee and vanilla with a very smooth mouth feel from the nitro tap. Vanilla not as strong in flavor as some vanilla portets I have had. Bottle was okay by the nitro takes it to another level. Done in a great porter fashion. (311 characters)

Poured from 12 oz bottle into tulip.

A: Motor oil black with one finger head that disappeared fairly quickly to a thin ring and left little to no lacing.

S: Mostly vanilla and roasted malts. Maybe a hint of chocolate and coffee.

T: Again the vanilla is the star of the show. Some roasted malts, light chocolate, and faint coffee.

M: Medium body and pleasant slightly sweet finish.

O: Decent and easy drinking porter but I wish there was more depth to flavor and aroma, and I wanted the coffee to be more prominent. (526 characters)

Nice roast up front before a chocolate malt, chocolate brownie takes over. The espresso and vanilla visit towards the end. This drinks rather thin so I think it would rate higher with more viscosity. (199 characters)

Nitro at Wino's in Bowling Green.

A - Deep brown, nearly black, great Nitro head.

S - Fairly muted dark malts and coffee with a sweet hint.

T - Creamy coffee, vanilla and chocolate all blend smoothly together. The nitro really helps lift the creaminess throughout.

M - Well, the light porter body is evident, but the nitro gives a lot of nice fullness to bring it up.

O - Really a nice porter. I'd be interested to see how good the flavors blends with a different gas blend or out of a bottle. As it stands, this is one of the best porters I've ever had, flying right under the radar. Could be the nitro though. (616 characters)

If they could get rid of the funky glass taste this would be excellent. (71 characters)

A- deep cola colored with ruby highlights. Thin light beige head that fades fast.

S- roasted coffee and a deep chocolate aroma. Lots of vanilla.

T- the aroma translates to the palate well. Milk chocolate, coffee and vanilla. There is a light toasty bitterness in the finish.

M- medium bodied, carbonation is almost nonexistent. Watery on the back end.

O- It's a "vanilla espresso" porter and it plays that role acceptably, but it's nothing to write home about. (474 characters)
