A - Hazy golden-orange with a finger of frothy white head. Fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.

S - Sweet wheat, tart green fruits, oak, wine, vanilla, lemon zest, funky Brett, lactic acid, pepper.

T - Very tart green fruits, sweet wheat, lemon zest, oak, wine, funky Brett, mild pepper and vanilla, lactic acid.

M - Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Smooth with a tart and dry finish.

D - Very nice lambic. Great overall balance and complexity.

A: Bright golden yellow, no head. very bright.

S: Honey, tangarine with a dry white wine quality to it (kind of like a dry Riesling). Pungent acidic lemon with a crisp tartness. Young cherries and tart grape. inviting.

T: From the second it touches your tongue a sour funk and tart apple take over. Reminiscent of a cider. Strong yeast presence with a hint of limestone. lemon and hay round it out. A very tart finish that is quite long. Sour cherries come in with a vanilla back end note.

M: Clean and crisp with a long finish. body seems like but the carbonation is there.

O: A nicely balanced brew. Quite enjoyable. The acid and funk is there but in no way overwhelming. /91

A solid Lambic brought to a tasting by Dave, thanks man. Think this beer seems overrated on here maybe.

A: Hazy light yellow color, quite opaque but lighter in color. No lacing or head really.

S: Great barnyard wild yeast funk thats not overly tart, very round. I'm thinking cantillon funk like champagne grape, lighter vinous white wine, and some berry. Very nice.

T: Nice tast too, a nice amount of tartness and oak weaved into the flavors. Tart at the back and a solid front the to taste with some sweetness. Just lacks a big fruit presence to compliment the tart and oak. Something missing from the middle of the taste, but it';s definitely still a good tasting beer.

M: Great feel and carbonation.

Overall good. Would like a little more fruit though. Solid stuff

750ml bottle, 2013 vintage poured into a flute
A: Hazy very light brown with a slight yellowish/pinkish hue. Almost no head but light bubbles
S: Sour - green apple/citrus, some oak, wheat and yeast
T: Also sour, green apple initially, a hit of funk, some citrus, yeast, wheat, and choke cherry
M: Light-bodied, pleasant carbonation, a light touch of tannins
O: Quite complex and tasty. My first Lambic and I'll definitely be exploring the style more. I'll try to buy another bottle of this to try with some age

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2011 vintage. Pours lightly hazy bright golden straw color with a 2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Minimal spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big tart apple, lemon, pear, grape, clove, oak, hay, grass, vinegar, white wine, funk, leather, and yeast earthiness. Awesome aromas with great balance and complexity of yeast and oak barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of tart apple, lemon, pear, grape, clove, oak, hay, grass, pepper, white vinegar, funk, white wine, leather, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of acidic tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, clove, oak, hay, vinegar, grass, white wine, leather, funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity/spicy/funky yeast flavors with moderate barrel presence; with a great malt/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent Lambic style! All around great balance and complexity of yeast and barrel flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink with the moderate acidity. A highly enjoyable offering.

Thanks to jdiddy for breaking this beer out. A great label with a bottle shape that is very reminiscent of a single malt. 2010 vintage served in a tulip. Pours a pale gold hue with a hazy clarity and a loose, quarter inch bright white head that dissipates into a thin, tight white band around the edges. Nose is somewhat Cantillon-esque - salty, funky, citrusy, cork. Reminds me a bit of a funky version of Ithaca Brute. Taste follows nose - no surprises; however, the funk is less prominent than suggested by the aromas present in the nose. Mouthfeel is light-medium (but closer to light) and slightly astringent, but not overly so. Carbonation is pleasant, not overly assertive and even from start to finish. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer and would love to track down a couple more bottles to cellar. The surprise of the night for me.

LOOK: Bright golden, thin lacing

SMELL: Musty, lemon zest, medicinal, bay leaf, pepper, tart, yeast, oak, faintly vinous

TASTE: Fresh sourness, oak, musty cellar, goaty, yeast, bready, lemon, faint cider, mint, strawberries, mineral

Most brewers steer clear of naming their beer a “Lambic” due to the Senne Valley indigenous affiliation and expectations that come with it. Rivertown is obviously paying homage to the originals with their own twist. From the pop of the cork and an amazing aroma, to the freshness of sourness and oak of the wine barrels, this one is here to impress. Top notch.

Pours a perfect straw gold, hazy and effervescent.

Very light lacing on the glass. Smell is pungent. Plenty of horse blanket here, lemon rind and ginger in the nose.

Alot of mouthwatering sourness is here in the taste. There's a crisp sour apple flavor that seems to hang on, with hints of lemon or lime pith. Very tasty.

Very dry mouthfeel, almost peppery, and very pleasing.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a Lambic done by Rivertown. I am in love with this beer. It seems to really hit the nail on the head style wise. Its very well done.

From the 2011 batch.

A- Pours a fairly hazy, deep golden in color. Small, off-white head that doesn't stick around long. No lacing due to lack of a head.

S- Fairly tart right up front, with a good dose of citrus. Middle of the scent turns toward a more oak focused tart flavor. Tart but not too sour overall.

T- Pretty much follows the scent to a tee. Starts with a moderate level of tartness, then moves toward a more grainy and oak flavor profile. Grainy, but there is still an underlying tartness throughout the middle of the drink. A dry, tart, and oak focused towards the end with a bit of lingering tart fruitiness.

M- Body is light and fairly highly carbonated. Pretty easy to drink, with even the tartness not holding you back.

Really just a decent sour. Nothing too special, but all the flavors and qualities of a good lambic are there in varying degrees. For the price tag of $10-12 it's not bad, but more than that, and you might as well use time and effort to get the Belgians.

Rivertown Lambic 2012 

Appears apricot hazed hue with a light white head fine streaming bubbled carbonation. Fine speckled lacing left behind. Aroma light fruit hints of cherry peach I'm not sure which fruit this lambic uses, wild yeast notes excellent stuff acidic lactic yogurt notes. Flavors are pungent with tart lively acidity, bitterness from nutty earthy yeast and aged hops rolling complexity with hints of peach/strawberry Chobani yogurt dynamic yeast lively flavors great beer. Mouthfeel bone dry lively carbonation effervescent wine like great finish goes down as uber authentic lambic not like a sugar infused Lindemann, I'm in awe. Overall excellence in a bottle, these brewers are inspired keep the sour wild ale program kicking and you will be successful.

Had on tap at the dilly deli. Served in a snifter.

A- hazy and murky pale lemon yellow. Starts with a bright white fizzy 1 1/2 finger head that leaves lace groping the snifter.

S- sweet and sour fruit that makes for a where's Waldo like experience. Lemon juice and vinious aromas waft out of the glass with a faint hint of lacto funk.

T- sour fruit mixes with a suggestion of wood you get from an old whiskey. Lemon and lime are prominent on the finish and really deliver a nice sour kick.

M- light and smooth on the palate with pleasing and teasing carbonation (light but adequate). Sourness creates a slight pucker that is perfect for the taste. I'm going to say perfect for the style.

Overall a great sour. This is my first but I think it is really great. Sour but not so that you will clinch up like a Mormon. Feel just fits the taste and the taste is very pleasant. Time to try more sours

A - pours a vast orange gold with minimal tan head

S - tons of sour and horseradishy heat. Smells fantsdtic

T - Fairly hard hitting sour horseradish flavors up front slightly watery aftertaste and finish. Great flavor though

M - medium bodied and drinkable

O - fizzes out towards the end but absolutely fantastic up front. I dont know why but I always associate a certain taste in many sours with horseradish... does anyone else know what im talking about?

Poured into a snifter, pours a nice hazy peach color, not much head on it.

Smells tart and funky, nice sour apple and vinegar on the nose.

Taste is excactly what I want in a lambic, sour and tart fruit(lemon, pear, grape and apple) bready malt, wheat and of course funky wild yeast.

Mouthfeel is a bit light, but it is nicely refreshing and has good carbonation. Leaves a lingering tart green apple flavor.

Overall this a great beer, holds true to the style, highly enjoyable. Would gladly drink again.

Enjoyed 2- 8oz pours from a tapper @ the East Nashville Beer Festival in Nashville, TN. Tapped from a White Tap Handle that has Lambic and Rivertown on it into my 8oz East Nashville Beer Festival Tasting Glass. Had to go back for a second of this!! Favorite of the entire festival.

Aroma- A big amount of funk from the beginning and then finishes with light citrus. Very sweet to the nose as well.

Appearance- Received with a less than .5 finger head that dies immediately. Has a clear, dark golden (almost light orange) colored body. Leaves no lacing behind.

Flavor- Huge citric and funk from the beginning to end of the taste. Sour barnyard and complexed sweetness. Enjoying every last drop of this!

Mouthfeel- Light Bodied, HUGE Carbonation, Tons of puckering with dry flavors, and then has a high tart finish. Perfect for this style!

Overall Impression- While sour beers are some of my favorites out of any style, this one rocked the festival into conversation all day about it! If you get a chance, pick up more than one bottle and I'll take one off your hands in a trade! Perfect unblended lambic attributes. The appearance and smell were above average but the rest of the beer has high marks!

Vintage 2010: capped and corked

Appearance: Opens with a loud pop when I extracted the cork (I was expecting a foamer but that didn't happen) and pours a cloudy honey color with a spumous head that fades somewhat quickly leaving a few patches of lace

Smell: Lactic crabapple, with pear, oak, Sauvignon Blanc grape, grass, barnyard funk and hay

Taste: Oaky and dry, up front, with a significant lactic element; crabapple, pear and Sauvignon Blanc grape tones building; the tartness builds, into the middle, bringing barnyard funk and hay tones; the finish reveals a nice blend of the fruit and funky tartness

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Not many reviews of the 2010 vintage here and perhaps none of them have this much age on it; wow, was I impressed with how this bottle has matured; would be hard to pick this out if one were asked to identify the American lambic from a group of Belgians

Cork pulled apart in three pieces- cheap agglomerated cork, not a good sign initially. Pours a hazy straw gold, ample white head, and a thick cap of lacing after the head had fallen. Smells like lemon zest, saltwater (in a good way), light grain, straw, very appealing. Salty citrus, lemon, slight sweet malt, mild citric acid, slight black pepper. Mouthfeel is light-medium and carbonation is high, body lingers just enough, very well balanced, extremely smooth drinking. Damn I need more! Oh and brewer- upgrade the cork, presentation is everything, and I'd hate to have a bottle ruined by a disintigrated cork!

Giant chunks of yeast came tumbling out as the hazy golden body filled my glass. The beer gushed a little, but now after a few sips, there is almost no carbonation.

Smells pretty nice-- I'm pretty impressed with the level of oaky funk going here. There is a nice level of bright fruity notes, and a good citrusy lemon note.
The flavor adds a good tart bite, but it lacks that solid sourness that I look for.

Feels is pretty damn good-- medium-light with plenty of carbonation.

Overall-- very impressed by this one. I wasn't expecting much, but I hunted around Columbus to find this beer and I'm certainly not disappointed!

Edit---
I really enjoyed this one. I brought a bottle to darklord day last year and everyone else like it a lot too.
When compared to authentic Belgian Lambic, this beer is ok. But as an American brewed Lambic, especially one coming out of Ohio, this is superb. This is about 96% as good as Duck Duck Gooze or Cable Car... Without the hassle to land it.
In terms of a "bang for your buck" beer, this is a strong winner.
