Appearance - The poured a copper color with a reddish tint. Bubbles clung to the sides of the glass, but quickly disappeared.

Smell - The smell most dominant was that of sour fruit with an overall sour profile.

Taste - My initial impression is that the beer is pleasantly sour. The blackberries present a nice tart taste with the oak adding a dry background. The dryness of the oak just makes you want to take another drink.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation is appropriate for the style, sweeping away the sweetness and leaving a dry aftertaste.

Overall - I did not have the highest expectations for this one, but enjoyed it a lot.

2012 vintage

Appearance: Pours a copper color that shows the influence of the blackberry juice; the head is somewhat flimsy and fades to a ringlet and archipelago; many dots and streaks of lace

Smell: Acetic tones waft upwards, along with blackberry, oak and vinous notes

Taste: Oak and blackberry flavors compete with a hint of wheat bread, on the front end, with the acetic and vinous character building through the middle; the finish was dry and oaky, with just a touch of residual fruit

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; puckery

Overall: Rivertown excels in the sour department and while not as good as their lambic I had recently, this certainly adds to their reputation
