3 Fonteinen Zenne y Frontera is the latest creation of Armand Debelder, together with sommelier Andy De Brouwer of Les Eleveurs. The lambic was aged in 40-year old casks for 12 months prior to bottling. According to the brewery, this collaboration seeks to bridge the beer and wine worlds and is also aimed at drawing in the culinary sector.

First time to try this on my recent trip to Brussels with a good friend of mine. Saw it on the menu and told him it was a must try. Another great beer from Drie Fonteinen. The color was right on point and the smell was that of the sherry casks used to age this lambic. Just the right level of carbonation upon pouring. We let it set briefly for 10 to 15 minutes which really seem to open it up the smell and taste. You picked up the lambic, slight sour notes but I could definitely pick up the Sherry cask notes which really brings this to a new level. I love Sherry and the blend couldn't bee any better. The feel was typical and taste was outstanding. My friend was somewhat new to the lambics but said it was his favorite out of the 20 to 30 we tried while on our trip. Another great beer from Fonteinen and one I plan to try again soon. Cheers!

Blend n94 Season 18/19. Drank 02.02.23 out of a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass.
Look - No head and little carb, gold color.
Smell - Distinctly lambic.
Taste - Acid. Too much at cellar temp, but when it got to room temp, it was more tasty, but still too much on the sour side for my taste.
Feel - Medium mouthfeel with low carbonation.
Overall - Just too sour and acidly of a lambic for me to really enjoy; I need to give another blend another shot just to see if it was this batch, or if Zenne might not be my thing.
