So, a 750ml bottle of Drie Fonteinen Hommage, an expensive treat from my girlfriend for my birthday in the Delirium Bar in Brussels!
Came with a plastic cork and cage, and enjoyed the whole bottle to myself, as my girlfriend does not like "sour"
The first thing I noticed was the lack of any discernible head. It wasn't a totally flat pour, so much as a half flat pour.
The taste was the typical cherry sour of a kriek but I did not find anything that really set this particular bottle apart as anything that special.
EDIT:(Hommage has both raspberries AND cherries in the mix, but the cherries dominated for me)
Not as remarkable as their Schaerbeekse Kriek or Kriek de Ranke, and, as fruit lambics go, far short of Cantillon's St.Lamvinus and a zillion light years behind the 750ml bottle of Cantillon Blabaer I enjoyed earlier in the year so maybe I had my birthday treat early?
I drank the entire 750ml OK but, unlike the Blabaer, there were no tears when the bottle was empty, and I quickly moved on. I'm wondering whether a different bottle of Hommage may have given a different story? As somebody else said, pretty good, but something missing?? Will have to try another one :o)
