Drie Fonteinen Hommage. Bottled: 02/14/07, consumed12/17/11 at Brouwer's Cafe, Seattle.
Ap: pours with a quickly disappearing thin layer of foam, gives way to a brilliantly clear deep reddish pink, with soft orange borders. Very pretty. 4.5
Ar: plasticy phenolic funk, lactic and berry derived sourness, fresh berries and tart skins. 4
T: both tart/unripe and fresh from the farm, sun warmed, juicy raspberries are present in the flavor. Delicious tang with rich berry sweetness. Phenolics are more restrained, mellow funk and acetic notes. This is what a framboise should taste like. 5
Moderate carbonation, dry, but not a stringently so, with nice richness from the fruit to maintain balance. Leaves the palate chop-smackingly coated with fruity tang.4.5
Overall a majestic beer that I am delighted to try. From one of my favorite breweries, I would expect no less. 5
