From notes taken about a week ago. Poured into a wine glass. I was super excited about this beer as I'd heard great things.

APPEARANCE: Pale gold. Effervescent. Lots of bubbles. Strong, foamy head that recedes to a solid couple centimeters.

AROMA: Just what I expected from the style - immediate funk, yeast, and a little bit of cheese. I also detect some citrus zest and an earthy, grassiness. Lovely.

TASTE: Tart and funky! Slight lemon-lime citrus. There's also some tart green apple in there. Little hints of straw and earth and sharp cheese from the yeast. This is one of the best tasting beers I've had recently.

MOUTHFEEL: Effervescent and crisp. It's refreshing. Somewhat dry finish, though there is a lingering bitterness towards the back of the tongue.

OVERALL: Though I've only had one other gueuze before this, I think this is the best I've had. One of the best beers I've had outright. It's perfectly refreshing, and the tart funkiness is reminiscent of a good wine.

Bottled on Dec.5, 2012

Pours hazy honey gold with a huge 2 inch white head that settles to a thick cap on top and leaves streaks of spotty lace.

Smell is of funky yeast, grainy malt, hay and faint citrus.

Taste is of sour apple, tart peach and yeasty bread.

Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with high carbonation. Streaming champagne-like bubbles rise throughout the drink down.

Tart, fruity, light and refreshing but, the flavor seems rather one dimensional and I cannot get past the overwhelming barnyard aromas. Somewhat disappointing.
