Look: Fizzy once poured and pink head disappears within a minute. Color is deep red.
Smell: Funk and some cherries.
Taste: Like a tart wine. I'm not getting much of the cherries.
Feel: A lot of carbonation. Finishes quite dry.
Overall: Likely not my style of wild beers. Wished it taste as good as it smells.

Poured in a Voodoo teku. A: a deep red with a lot of pink head that seems to be hanging around for a while. S: some funk, cherries, a touch of oak. T: a funky, juicy sour cherry. Light sour and a nice oaky dryness. M: light, and a bit dry like wine. O: just a solid brew. 3F does great things...this is no exception

There is definitely cherries on the aroma with a little bit of yeast funkiness, but my pour was also an off-putting wet cardboard / foot odor smell as well. Flavor rebounded, though it is about what you'd expect from the style. That isnt a criticism, though. It has some tart cherry upfront & you definitely get a slightly vinegary yeast kick as well, with the dry bush fruit & medium malt. A little chalky on the mouthfeel from the yeast presence. Overall a good, solid lambic but not a standardbearer and, man, I kinda can't get over how bad the aroma was.

Dark red, almost purple body with a foamy, bubbly pink head. Aroma is all tart cherries, with some hints of funky oak. Flavor is the same, sour cherries up front with red grapes and lots of funky earthy oak towards the finish. The feel is a tingling tartness, with a lingering finish. Medium bodied, medium to high carbonation. A really nice cherry beer, well done.

Pours a beautiful dark red with nice carbonation and small pink head. Tons of carbonation and super tart with just a tiny little subtle touch of sweetness on the finish from the cherries.

Beautiful dark magenta with a head that fizzes out but the carb keeps bubbling up and swirling as it sits. Looks great. Smell isn't powerful but mostly cherry skin. Not much of the cinnamon that often accompanies cherry but it's there in the background. I almost smell a sweet tomato scent. Flavor is much the same with a tiny bit of soft funk. Crisp feel.

Beautiful deep ruby red; head is smallish and pink and disappears quickly. Nose is full and funky, nice fruit coming through as well. I quite like how both the cherry and funk come through without one covering up or overwhelming the other. Flavor profile is medium sour, which allows a little more cherry to come through. Soft, fruity...just a slight residual sweetness helps round it out.
I can't imagine what else you would want from a kriek. I'll give the edge on nose to Cantillon, but I like the flavor on this a bit more. Excellent.

375mL bottle poured into an oversized tulip.

I'd read somewhere that it's as important to listen to a beer as to observe it's appearance and that really applies to this beer. The fizzy, champagne-like sound this beer makes with the pour is like music. Even long after the fizzy, raspberry red-tinged pale white head recedes, I can still hear a slight snap, crackle and pop--- and I can see it too, as the carbonation is just relentless. Burgundy is the best description for the body's color, or perhaps plum skin, something on the darker end of the cherry spectrum and certainly resembling wine. 4.5

Cherry pulp and skin aroma have always been present in the great krieks I've had and smelling it here is not only seductive and alluring, but also suggests to me I'm in for a treat. Besides the dominant and exceptional cherry characteristics, a moderate yeast funk catches my attention. 4.5

Super tart, underripe cherry smacks me in the taste buds. Tart lemony-ness (my made up word) gives way to a light oak-like character and dry red wine feel and flavor. Warmth develops the beer too, as a sweeter vanilla flavor emerges. Occasionally a full bouquet of lily-like floral flavors sticks to my tongue and lingers long after the sip. 4.25

Tart as hell when not full-blown, lip-puckering sour, but there's enough body and vinous qualities, especially dryness and oak-y tannins, to keep it drinkable and refreshing. 4.5

This is a great beer, not much else I can add.

Had this as part of a tasting called Funk'd at my local craft beer bar. Really enjoyed it! In fact the finish on this one compares to other beers such as Hommage was surprising! Much cleaner and fruitier finish! Would love to get again!

Pours a hazy red color with pink head. Funk, tartness, and dark fruits, cherry most noticeably on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with lingering cherry notes, dry and tart.

3 Fonteinen Oude Kriek '14 vintage

Pours a fiery, ruby-red color, with a small, quickly dwindling head.

Offers one of the most perfect aromas I have ever experienced, mainly defined by ripe, slightly earthen cherries. Comes along with a gentle fruit entangled sourness, not too acidic, while exhibiting fermented, ripe fruit the most pleasant way.

Features an incredible soft mouthfeel, bursting with fruit, while providing a refreshing body.

Tastes almost like cherry juice, while being fuller bodied. The tart sourness acts as a peak to the ripe cherry fruits, revealing funky yogurt, a whiff of old, dried lemon peel and incredibly profound cherry stone qualities with marzipan, earth and fruit pulp. Drinks hillariously easy, as the beers sourness is just one tiny part of the overall taste, with a pleasant but naturally fitting fruity sweetness, gently balanced by the leathery tartness. Finishes with even more visible cherry stones and musty malts, wrapped up by cherry pulp, cherry skin and lemon peel, leaving the palate with an enjoyable, gentle sourness.

Easily the most intense appearance of cherry I have ever experienced in a beer. It features cherry from the beginning till the end, while opening with unusually ripe fruits, being able to turn even riper while drinking. Still provides a soft, mineralic mouthfeel, letting the cherries remain enjoyable, while getting joined by crisp lemon, producing a fantastic, irresistable, complex taste.

375ml served in a little plastic Holiday Inn glass in a Paris hotel. Bottled On date was 22/05/2014.

Pours murky red with a small pink head. Looks pretty carbonated. Smell is mild cherries and tartness.

Taste is quite tart -- with a solid cherry note. Surprising lack of sweetness altogether.

Mouthfeel is light and airy. Overall, this is a quite tasty beer.

The smell of intense raspberry, sweet, raspberry well and once again raspberry, but not rejecting, somewhere in the background feel like
"Attic" - Oude (old) in the name. And what we bring more sips of the drink? Raspberry, mingled sweetness with bitterness
all so incredibly fitting that, are complementary, lemon note, but very delicate and raspberry. Not forgotten
impression. Oude Kriek from 3 Fonteinen as for me a revelation.

Bottle from BIAB
Mostly clear ruby color with a decent sized pink tinged head that dissipates quickly. Earthy funky musty cherry juice makes up most of the nose. The flavor is a bit vinous with tart cherries and funkified earth. Moderate carbonation with a medium to light body. Great stuff.

375ml bottle dated 5/22/14. Drank 5/2/15.

Ruby red pour with white head reducing to fine lacing.

Glorious cherry pie nose. Sweet, sour and jammy. A bit of earth but fairly clean.

The flavor is primarily cherries, oak and a lemony sourness that is slightly acetic. There is some earth but not much funk has developed. There is some astringent oak tannin in the finish along with some mild bitterness.

Creamy, active full carbonation carries the light bodied brew.

This is a very good kriek and a much better showing than the intense red. I wish the flavor was as beautiful as the nose.

A: 4.5 The color of this beer is very pleasant. Pours a deep crimson with a two-inch pink head with good retention.

S: 4.25 Fairly mild compared to other krieks. Hay and funk dominate the nose with mild cherry coming through in the background. Green pepper and lemon come in next with a slight mineral aroma. The cherries smell really wonderful and start to take charge as the beer warms, but they are still mild compared to the funk.

T: 4.5 While the cherries may have been lacking on the nose, they more than make up for it with flavor. So much quality, tart cherry balanced out by mildly sour, earthy funk. The beer starts out a bit sweet with some white pepper, followed by an increasing level of sourness over the course of a few seconds until you get a crisp, dry, lemony finish.

M: 4.75 Great feel, perfect carbonation, and a slightly dry finish make this beer extremely satisfying while still easy-drinking.

O: 4.5 Probably the most balanced kriek I’ve had to date. There’s a lot of great flavors here and the cherry tastes like high quality fruit. There could be a tiny bit more tartness, but other than that this beer is truly excellent.

This beer is good but I was expecting a fuller body with stronger sour notes.

For the $15 I paid, there are better, cheaper bottles representative of the style that I can get regularly, so this will be a one time purchase.

The color is like a pastel tint of red, with a head that is pinkish. The head diasappears quickly, with a lot of fizzing. The aroma is sour, but is somewhat softened by the cherries. The taste is also sour. The cherries give it a nice taste, whitout making it a sweet beer. Carbonation is relatively high. Nice beer.

Appearance: It has a nice ruby red color to it. It has a nice light pink head that dies down moderately and leaves next to no lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of tart cherries, red grapes, lemon, some funk, a light acidity and faint oak.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has some tart cherries, red grapes, a lemon sourness, definite funk, a light acidity and faint woody oak.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by great flavors and aromas. Another great beer from Drie.

The beer comes in a beautiful dark ruby color, almost like blood.

The aroma has tart cherries, slight funk.

The flavor offers tart berry up front, maraschino cherry flavor, with a light funk quality in the back.

Generally notes are cherry flavor with a decent tart quality. The beer lacks carbonation as it pours almost flat.

Pours dark red almost purple with ruby highlights. Thin light pink head that recedes quickly. No real lacing. Pretty clear.

Aroma of rich tart cherries. Vanilla, almond, and oak. Very rich and complex. Earthy, mushroomy funk lingers in the background along with lactic acid, but cherries take the forefront. Super jammy and lovely. Even some spices as well.

Tart cherries upfront followed by lactic acid. Rich cherries hit mid palate with oak and earthy brett. Lambic expresses itself more so in the flavor. Mushroom and tea, barnyard. Fruity and juicy.

Medium carbonation with a slick full body (but not thick). Medium tannins and bone dry.

A classic, excellent kriek. Lots of complex rich cherry flavor with a solid lambic underneath.

Has an aesthetically pleasing, pinkish-red froth that devolves slowly. Color is bright crimson.

A tart cherry and slightly funky aroma assault precedes some slightly medicinal notes and oak.

The cherry is bold up front of course, but it also has a handful of cotton candy, some shards of oak, a pinch of vanilla and a dash of vinegar to balance.

Dry through and through and almost sprightly.

Has just enough of everything and not too much of anything, and that's how it should be.

Bottle purchased at AJ's in Henrietta, NY.

Pours a dark, almost blood red, slightly opaque, with a fizzy, crackling head that recedes quickly, and no lacing.

Smells like oak, sour grain, cherries, vinegar, and lactic acid.

This is pretty moderately sour, but manages to keep a delicate balance. There's a very good balance between sour cherry and oak, with sour grainy malt as well, some vinegar, and sour apples.

This has a bubbly, prickly, and fairly highly carbonated mouthfeel, with a lighter body. It's very drinkable- it was insanely easy to put down this 375.

This is probably the best Kriek that I've ever had. So good.

Picked this up when I was at HF last week. Bottled March, 2014

Gorgeous color, blah blah blah

Smell consists of light funk but is dominated with red-skinned fruit: grapes, raspberry and a shitload of cherries. The cherries and grapes are in the form of tannic skins with just a hint of sweet flesh. Hints of sea salt give it a 'fullness'.

Flavor follows suite. That same saltiness gives it a fuller mouthfeel, making it medium to medium-plus. Prevalent but soft carbonation gently prickles the tastes buds and at the same time scrubs and cleans them. It isn't the most complex beer, but is insanely drinkable and the light tartness keeps my enamel intact and stomach lining ulcer-free.

I wish I had both Cantillon Kriek and Coolship Cerise so I could compare and contrast, but this seems a little softer and thinner than the Cantillon.

Great to try and a wonderful treat to tick off.
