Bottled February 2011, picked up at hill farmstead around thanksgiving 2013. Poured into a Worthy Burger tulip glass. In person traded to me from ScotNH after we decided it wasn't up his alley after an experience with grassroots brother soigné.
The cork couldn't wait to bust out of this bottle! Started unscrewing the cage and once it got loose it went flying across the room, cage still on it. You have been warned. Little bit of foam came up but no other problems.
Appearance: Big ol' bubbly two finger head, dissipating rather quickly. Looks awesome.
Smell: Very sour. Hints of citrus and pepper. Maybe some bitter fruit rind. This is gonna taste great, huh?
Taste: Oh yeah. Tart citrus, a little funk. Also getting some oak and grassy flavors upfront. Can't quite place the aftertaste. Peppery/hoppy/apple, whatever it is, I like it.
Mouthfeel: Very we'll carbonated. Coats your whole mouth with fizzy bubbles.
Overall: Really enjoyed this. Everything was working for me, except the price tag, but I'm very glad I had it. Not too much experience with lambic or gueze but I'm hoping for some more.
