375ml bottle, poured into a Drie Fonteinen Vintage Fountain Tumbler.
The beer pours a deep, deep garnet color, very opaque with a slight pink head that vanishes almost immediately and leaves no lace or any trace of head behind. The aroma is of beautifully tart cherry, light pie spicing, sweet strawberry, soft malt and lots of funky yeast. It cuts right to the chase, cherries, cherries, and more cherries. Cherry is again on the forefront, very tart without being too sour, light malt and pie spicing, some sweet fruit is present as well, almost like strawberries or raspberries, with some great funky undertones that really bring out the fruit as well as the tartness. The mouthfeel is good, carb feels nice, but is lower than I'd like. The finish is nice and creamy and goes down so nicely.
Verdict: Definitely an enjoyable beer from Drie Fonteinen, but I'm not convinced it's better than Oude Kriek. It needs a bit more carbonation, but the cherry is definitely front and center, and executed perfectly. It just doesn't offer too much else like their Schaerbeekse Kriek or Oude Kriek.

A: The body is a dark dark ruby red almost purple color. There is a slight lacing on the top of the glass that is a white/pink hue.
S: You can smell the sour in this from across the room. Intense cherry and acidic sour aromas come off this beer.
T: Really really sour. A little too sour for such a low abv beer. If you are going to go that sour have a bigger body to back it up. I recognize that Krieks are not normally high abv, Armand should have gone a little lighter on the sour flavors. There are also some very sour cherry flavors that make this beer delicious.
M: Good body for a Kriek and great carbonation.
O: Great beer but not worth too much hassle to get. I would not buy this one again due to the price but it is a great beer.
