The Golden Invitational resumes tonight with the South Pacific's offering: Hinano. Brewed in Tahiti (part of French Polynesia), it's imported by a group whose address is just a few miles from where I live! I thought that note was pretty cool. But anyway, this is the third of four competitors in this Invitational, and hopes to overtake Golden Pheasant for the leading score. On to the beer:

Pours a clear golden pale color into a pilsner glass. Lots of live carbonation in the body, and despite the fizziness, the head retention isn't half bad. A little skunk rises from the beer, but it's mostly adjuncty. The flavor is decent; grainy/cereal like, blended with a subtle corn sweetness. Hop bitterness is citrus-like, and kicks in at the end of each sip, balancing out the sweetness. Feels a bit overcarbonated, however it's a fair drinker.

Bière de Luxe? Don't think so. The brew isn't all that bad, but don't be fooled by that tag or the exotic notion of it being brewed in Tahiti.

Hinano fails to deliver a great brew to overtake the lead. The Golden Invitation concludes with Central America's offering, coming up next...

Pours a typical clear, golden color and a small and quickly disappearing head.
Aroma is a pleasant, clean hops.
The taste is surprisingly bitter, but sadly it comes with that unpleasant metallic feel in the aftertaste.
Drinkable and all, but sadly the aftertaste spoils the entire picture.

A: Pours clear golden with lots of medium to large bubbles. The tall white head is kind of thick and compact, dissipates slowly into rich lacings.

S: Some mild corn and bready malt, very sweet. Bitter hops and citric notes in the back.

T: Bitter hops, better than many Adjuncts lagers. Mostly malt, but corn as well. Sweet and citric.

M: Aftertaste is very long and bitter. Body is medium to full for this style while the carbonation is strong but un-aggresive.

O: Well-crafted (?) Adjunct Lager.

A finger and half of head on a clear, golden colored body.
The aroma is grain, mostly rice.
The taste has mild bitterness and moderate sweetness. One then the other on the profile.
The texture is a little sticky with moderate carbonation and light body.
The sweetness was a bit much and with the sticky texture makes this a "no-go".

Shared by GT2. Thanks man.

The beer is golden hued and transparent with a white head. The aroma brings macro lager scents, grain. Flavor follows the nose. Light lager and bland. Tastes like a BMC beer for the masses. No thank you.

On a side note, I sure would like to visit Tahiti. I'd even drink this beer if I happened to find myself catching some rays on a Tahitian beach.
