Not the same recipe as listed here, this IPA is 7.1%, with 4 lbs/barrel of nugget, amarillo and chinook. Not sure if they just changed the recipe or if they have two IPAs...
On draught at The Bier Stein, Flat Tail's IPA is hazy burnt gold with an small off-white head leaving scattered lace.
Smell is modest, this one is lacking hops for my taste and the local style. A little earthy, and some bread.
Taste is also a little weak on the hops, although there more then the nose. Mostly earthy, some bitterness. It's clean, and the malt has a nice breadiness. The hops are some citrus and resin, mostly up front and quickly fleeting, with a little sweet lime lingering on the bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and dry.
Drinkability is ok, it's a really generic IPA, and while there are no flaws in execution, I'd revisit the design.
